    What to Expect We are looking for a Chassis Controls In Vehicle Validation Engineer for all of Tesla's Vehicle Platforms. You will be responsible for validating and testing safety critical chassis controls software (Traction Control, Stability Control, Steering, ABS, etc). The role is part test execution but also part test design. You will spend most of your time at proving grounds in prototype vehicles and will be expected to not only execute maneuvers, but also be able to compile and change software and understand hardware change impact on the control systems and vehicle attributes. You will be part of a dynamic team that continuously works on innovative technologies. You will work directly with software, controls, and vehicle dynamics engineers to understand requirements, our attribute philosophy, and software/hardware changes to provide subjective and objective feedback and document results. You will directly contribute to safety critical software and vehicle attributes, redefining the industry in what driving a Tesla should feel like. The role will require dynamic and at limit in-vehicle driving as well as extensive travel to proving grounds around the world (30% travel). You'll serve as a technical leader responsible for designing and building the scalable systems that power ingestion, storage, access, and delivery of autonomous vehicle maps. You'll partner closely with EMs, Staff/Principal ICs, and cross-functional teams to define the architecture and deliver next gen mapping capabilities that scale to national deployments. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong systems thinking, architecture design, and the ability to guide and mentor engineers across teams. You'll operate autonomously, lead cross-functional technical initiatives, and ensure the health, scalability, and performance of our critical mapping pipelines and services. What You'll Do (Responsibilities) Architect and implement scalable, reliable, distributed backend systems to support national-scale mapping. Design and evolve data pipelines and microservices for map ingestion, transformation, storage, and release. Own end-to-end delivery of high-impact projects, including defining milestones, aligning stakeholders, and mentoring ICs across functions. Collaborate cross-functionally with Localization, Perception, Simulation, and Offboard teams to define data contracts and ensure system interoperability. Job Purpose We are seeking a skilled and motivated Calibration Engineer to support the development and validation of propulsion system calibrations for next-generation electrified and hybrid powertrains. This role is instrumental in ensuring robust, efficient, and compliant performance across all key functional domains including torque control, thermal management, power modulation, diagnostics, and functional safety. Job Duties and Responsibilities Develop, verify, and refine calibrations for propulsion system functions such as: * Power Control * Torque control * Thermal management * On-board diagnostics (OBD) * Functional safety (ASIL-level calibrations) * Collect and analyze system and vehicle-level test data through both virtual simulations and in-vehicle testing, ensuring calibration maturity at each program milestone. * Conduct root cause analysis for calibration-related issues and maintain thorough documentation of findings and resolutions. * Utilize calibration tools such as ETAS INCA, Vector vCDM, and Concerto for dataset management and parameter optimization. * Interpret and work with MATLAB/Simulink models and embedded C code for control algorithm understanding and traceability. * Operate motor-inverter dynamometer systems and execute structured test procedures to calibrate electric propulsion systems. * Support cross-functional teams with insights from calibration analysis and contribute to software and hardware issue triage. * Ensure quality, timing, and performance targets are met through continuous validation and improvement of calibration data sets. Required Qualifications * Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related technical field. * 5+ years of experience in powertrain development and/or calibration (EV, HEV). Proficiency with: * Calibration and data acquisition tools (INCA, vCDM, MATLAB) * Root cause analysis methods and diagnostic data interpretation * Reading and understanding embedded control models (Simulink, C code) Preferred Qualifications * Experience with electrified propulsion systems including motor/inverter calibration and diagnostics. * Knowledge of statistics and statistical analysis techniques applied to calibration optimization. Familiarity with propulsion calibration test equipment and software such as: * ETA, ZINCA, Concerto * Dyno interface software (e.g., AVL Puma) * Exposure to functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and diagnostic compliance (e.g., OBD-II, UDS protocols). * Ability to manage complex calibration projects across multiple software versions and hardware configurations.
