The Department of Computer Science invites applications for an Online Assistant Professor of Instruction position to start as early as Fall 2026. We are seeking candidates to teach a variety of courses in the online Master of Computer Science program. The position is a nine-month non-tenure-line faculty appointment. Opportunities exist to augment the academic year salary by assisting with summer instruction. All positions are subject to availability of funds.
Successful candidates are expected to do the following:
* Teach 4 sections of online courses at the master's level per semester,
* Exhibit a collaborative attitude that feeds into the culture of cooperation and teamwork in the Computer Science Department.
This non-tenure-line faculty position is primarily for online teaching. Candidates are not expected to engage in research, external funding, or publications.
The department offers the following degree programs: Bachelor of Science (BS) in computer science, Bachelor of Arts in computer science, Master of Science in AI, Master of Science in computer science, Master of Arts in computer science, and Doctor of Philosophy in computer science. The BS degree is ABET accredited.
The Computer Science department enjoys a friendly atmosphere and is dedicated to the success of its junior faculty, providing support through formal mentoring, reduced service loads, collaboration and collegiality, and opportunities to participate in university-wide professional development programs.
Required Qualifications
For both ranks:

Texas State, a Hispanic-Serving Institution with Emerging Research status, is located in central Texas between two large metropolitan areas, Austin and San Antonio. The Interior Design Program enrolls approximately 500 majors with ten full-time and many part-time faculty members serving the program. The program is accredited through the Council of Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). Graduates are qualified for careers helping others improve interior environments while expressing their own creative abilities. Texas State's interior design students gain skills and knowledge in ideation and concept development, sketching, drafting, space planning, stylistic history, design theory, materials, building systems, life safety codes, and business practices. Graduates are academically prepared to take the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ) examination that must be passed to register as an interior designer in Texas and many other states.

This tenure-track research faculty position is based at the university's Round Rock Campus (RRC), home to 6 academic units in the College of Health Professions offering degrees in nursing, physical therapy, communication disorders, respiratory care, health informatics and information management, and radiation therapy. The College of Health Professions has two additional academic units located on the San Marcos campus that offer degrees in health administration and medical laboratory science. This 9-month research faculty position will be affiliated with either the St. David's School of Nursing or the Department of Physical Therapy, or both, depending on the candidate's discipline and research focus. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Department of Physical Therapy offers a CAPTE-accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy program and includes 20 faculty and staff serving over 138 doctoral students. The department is housed in Willow Hall, which is equipped with a state-of-the-art 3,500 square foot Physical Therapy Clinic with a dedicated research space featuring a 10-camera Vicon motion capture system, force plates, and surface EMG. Specialized portable equipment includes a computerized sensor walkway system and attachable 3-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor system to allow tracking functional movement assessments external to lab spaces. An additional lab includes 921 square feet of dynamic research space with split-belt treadmill and biometric exercise testing equipment.

Experience teaching online or hybrid/blended format at university level or documented training in teaching online. Higher education teaching experience in a high-demand occupational area (e.g., Private Aircraft Operations, Instrument Flight Rules for Aviation, Principals and Methods of Flight Instruction, Theory of Multi-Engine Aircraft Operations, Theory of Commercial Flight).
