An Embedded System Senior Staff Engineer will be responsible for the electronic design, firmware design, manufacturing, testing, and support of a real time embedded system used to validate engine control system Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) for both internal GE Aerospace and external customers. The FADEC Test System (FTS) is used for Software-in-the-loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing in the initial design and field support of engine control systems throughout the life of the product. The role will include the design, fabrication, and integration of custom circuit board to meet specific controls engineering customer needs, as well as the design and fabrication of custom electrical harnesses and wiring for use at test and to support rapid progression between engine types.

**Roles and Responsibilities**
· Responsible for execution of laboratory and field validation testing, inspection and data acquisition for use in the design and validation of products and services
· Creates robust component, logic and systems designs to ensure product safety, system and component reliability and preservation of operational capability.
· Integrates and balances overall customer and engine requirements and internal best practices to develop and advance overall system functional architecture. Optimally partitions overall functionality between vehicle, fuel, electrical, and pneumatic hardware sub-systems and software logic.
· Designs electrical system architecture and ensures compatible component functional requirements which deliver power, sensing, computation and actuation, meeting system level requirements within specified environment throughout the lifecycle. Supports production and field event investigations.
· Requires specialized knowledge within electrical hardware design and aviation controls software. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
· Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
· Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.

**Required Qualifications**
· Master's Degree in Engineering or Sciences from an ABET-accredited university or college.
· Minimum of 6 years of electronic design & test experience, spanning analog and digital circuitry, preferably including avionics and embedded interfaces in Aerospace or equivalent industry.
· Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship

**The base pay range for this position is $200,000 - $220,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
