The pros of working at the Arc of the Capital Area are trauma bonding with your other minority co-workers
In my experience working at ARC of the Capital Area the cons were many. The "CEO" would find someone to pick on and take all of her aggression out on them, usually a POC or minority. If you had a falling out of the "popular" aka the friend group of said CEO watch your back. This organization spies on it's employees and will exploit everyone they can. If you'd like to have your boundaries respected, this is not the place for you.
My favorite perks of Arc of The Capital Area are enjoying the trauma bonding with my collogues. One time, our work from home manager agreed to have a meeting with me to discuss my feelings and how I was feeling targeted, bullied, harassed and scared. My team stayed and sat in the sidelines of this meeting as we recorded it once we saw the CEO pop up as a guest in this meeting. I was not alerted to this but the CEO, Amber, spent a good 30 minutes berating me while my team sat on the sidelines and listened. At one point, Amber told me that none of my team LIKED me and they ALL come to her with complaints about me. Both members of my team almost jumped out of their chairs to defend themselves but I was able to handle her gossiping with the dignity and grace that my team deserves. We all quit shortly after.
The leadership team and the CEO are knifing and gossipy. They view this organization and the IDD community as a cash cow. The three individuals I was unfortunate to interact with, conducted themselves with unprofessional conduct while fostering a culture of blaming the in person workers for every problem that came up.
I would improve this organization by employing professionals who have a clear goal of bringing light and joy to the IDD community.
I prepared for an interview with a sample lesson.
