Schedule:
Full time To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will train, coach, and provide spiritual and emotional encouragement for new and veteran staff to reach or exceed 100% of their assigned ministry budget.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Personal:

Grow in understanding of, appreciation for, and personal practice of ministry partnership development yourself as a way of fundraising, understanding it can also be a venue for spiritual formation.
Train staff in MPD:
Incorporate and practice spiritual formation principles and practices throughout the ministry partnership development process.
Train the MPD core practices which include the MPD cycle (Identify, Engage, Ask, Follow up, Thank, Report) and MPD organization (using DonorElf) as part of InterVarsity's MPD training curriculum
During coaching sessions, continually identify skill gaps of individual coachees and offer individualized training to close those gaps.
Offer contextualized MPD training for the diversity of InterVarsity's movement, including but not limited to gender, race & ethnicity, communication styles and geography.
Coach and lead new staff or veteran staff to full funding:
Lead staff through the spiritual and emotional practices of MPD with pastoral care.
Coach staff through the MPD cycle, using our MPD dept's best practices and expectations.
Provide contextualized MPD coaching for the ethnic, gender and geographic diversity of the movement
With each staff, set clear expectations, using coaching agreements.
Schedule and execute weekly coaching calls with staff to:
Set clear MPD goals based on national benchmarks
Coach using the GROW model with situational leadership overlay
Review DonorElf data and use to identify next steps
Analyze prospect lists and expand networks together
Discuss emotional blocks to MPD and identify possible solutions
Provide accountability and encouragement
Offer contextualized strategies for engaging with staff's unique network
Contribute to the effectiveness of the national MPD coaches team:
Partner with other national MPD coaches to execute MPD training and coaching
Consult with fellow MPD coaches, providing helpful resources and advice
Monitor, test, and update MPD best practices
Provide regular reports to Associate Director of MPD as requested
Contribute to our weekly team call and join our annual off-site multi-day meetings, where we connect as a team, pray, discuss coaching strategy and collaborate on serving coachees.
Attend and train at field and national meetings as requested, representing the MPD dept.
Maintain and develop personal MPD team:
Raise 100% of your ministry budget annually
Identify individuals and churches to partner each year, actively growing your network of relationships
Engage current and prospective partners annually
Make asks each year, following up all asks to closure
Individually thank all partners and communicate with donors monthly via prayer updates
Review financial reports for accuracy and ensuring that spending is within budget
Continue professional growth and development:
Stay current with development industry changes
Dedicate oneself to growing in cross-cultural skills, in line with InterVarsity's SHIFT training.
Stay current with computer software used by InterVarsity and the MPD Team
Pursue opportunities to grow as an MPD Coach, trainer, and leader.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree is required
3 - 5 years' experience with personal fundraising

Jobs Plus is operated by East Side House Settlement and is based in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the South Bronx. It offers workforce development, financial empowerment services, and community building programming to over 3000 residents. With a recent 3-year contract renewal, Jobs Plus is looking to expand to two neighboring developments at Mitchel and Mott Haven Houses, and the services provided to residents since 2013. This expansion will include a heightened focus on training and education as well as career advancement services.
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, the Community Coach will perform each essential duty of this position in a satisfactory manner. Key employee responsibilities are listed below:
Primary Functions

Coordinate or assist in planning for events such as community meetings, block parties, health fairs, and local business fairs
Develop systems to distribute information to community residents; Identify and implement the creative use of evolving social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to increase citizen engagement and dialogue
Provide ongoing support to Jobs Plus staff and community partners engaged in programming and opportunities.
Coordinate outreach and referrals from the Resident Association Presidents at each of the housing developments served as well as with East Side House programs at four NYCHA-based early childhood centers, three NYCHA-based elementary afterschool programs, three NYCHA-based senior citizen centers, and seven school-based programs, which serve many residents of public housing from the Mott Haven neighborhood.

Program Description:
In partnership with Stanford University, Public Health Solutions has been awarded a 5-year research grant from the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) focused on advancing maternal health equity. The goal of the CHIME study (Comparing Health Interventions for Maternal Equity) is to compare three different approaches to overcoming barriers to maternal healthy weight and chronic disease prevention. The community-based arm of the study will provide culturally relevant nutrition and physical activity and Health Coach support for pregnant and postpartum patients to improve maternal healthy weight in pregnancy and postpartum to prevent adverse maternal infant health outcomes.
Summary of Position:
PHS is seeking a health coach to fulfill the following duties:
Provide health education and home visiting services to pregnant participants throughout pregnancy and through 12- months postpartum.
Facilitate curriculum-based group health education workshops and support enrolled participants in the CHIME study with maternal & child health resources in their community.
Responsible for working with participants on their nutrition, physical activity, and lifestyle goal setting, as well as a detailed social needs screening, assessment, and referral.
Meet with participants on a weekly basis (at their home, in the office, or in the community) and keep detailed notes on their progress and activities, providing in-person support, text-message resources, and referrals to community services.
Manage caseload of up to 30 participants at a time and meet all stated program goals.
Follow guidelines from the Health Coach Manual on proper and in-depth case note documentation and tracking participant enrollment and progress in the study.
Regularly collaborates with program manager, study primary investigators (PIs), research coordinators, other team members, and nutrition/physical activity consultants to troubleshoot adverse events that may arise or discuss participants.
This is a grant-funded position ending 6/30/30.
Salary: $52,000
Qualifications and Requirements:
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in community/public health, social work, health coach, or related.
Experience: 1-2 years
Live in the tristate area (NY, NJ, CT), be willing to take public transportation or drive to home visits.
Bilingual preferred, but not required, in Spanish or Haitian Creole.
