W2 full-time physicians earn on average $300,000 per year plus benefits. Appreciate the autonomy and flexibility in our work schedules, routinely a 45 hour work week for full time positions. Paid Training Requirements: Active unrestricted medical license (MD/DO) in the state you wish to practice Minimum commitment of 3 weekdays per week. Practice Overview: Full time work: Monday - Friday (7am-4pm) or part time available. No call / No weekend clinical responsibilities. Physicians deliver modern wound management at the bedside in the post-acute care setting: Skilled Nursing Facilities and Long-Term Acute Care Hospitals. The externship is a 9 week program with a 28-hour-per-week commitment, which includes a mandatory four-hour lecture on Friday of each week. The program will begin on May 26, 2026 and end July 26, 2026. Attendance is required for the entire 9 weeks. Clinical Units: Acuity Adaptable, Burn Center, Critical Care, Emergency Department, Family Beginnings, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Mental Health Recovery Center, Operating Rooms and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, and Primary Care Centers Applications: Applications must be submitted by February 1st, 2026. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Under the guidance/supervision of licensed nursing staff, Student Nurse Extern will perform functions of a student regarding routine administrative/clinical/patient care tasks as identified in clinical skills list. Performs ordered treatments after instruction/check-off area expectations in accordance with Nursing Area Procedures/Policy. Assists in the admission transfer and discharge process of patients. Provides as directed, assistance required by patients to meet physical needs. Performs patient assessment per area expectation. After demonstrating competency, responsible and accountable for performing all clinical functions outlined for the Care Tech II on the clinical checklist include: Dressings, sterile/non-sterile; vein puncture/saline locks (specimen collection only); wound prepping/cleansing; suctioning, oral/bronchial/trach/ET Tubes; History/Patient Information/data collection and documentation (reviewed and signed by RN); Foley Catheter placement; irrigate eyes/ears; O2 administration per cannual/mask; patient education as directed; apply selected topical medications; Initiate, monitor and maintain IV therapy to include saline flush (angiocath). Under the direction of an RN, may place an NG or salem pump. Assists RN's and physicians in special procedures, as directed. Reviews and adheres to the patient plan of care when interacting with the patient. Documents legibly and thoroughly on designated forms utilizing only hospital-approved abbreviations. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for staff and patients. Responsible for attending all education offerings aligned with the program. Job Requirements Must be actively enrolled in an accredited BSN nursing program and be a current Junior. The program studied should include clinical experience regarding direct patient care for the total needs of the patient in an acute care environment. Licenses/Certification required: Proof of active enrollment and current class standing (GPA 3.0+) & BLS certification Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Effective verbal and written communication skills required. Possible exposure to communicable diseases and infections. Frequent mobility required with regard to a considerable amount of walking, standing and lifting/moving of patients/equipment. Risk of injury from combative patients. Using computer to assess/inquire labs and e-mail at discretion of Nursing Manager and/or senior staff nurses. Alters activities/behaviors to reflect/ensure adequate care appropriate to the age of patients served (i.e. adolescent, geriatric, pediatric, neo-natal, adult) as described in the area/unit age-specific and/or job specific competencies. Must maintain age specific competencies as described according to department/area/and unit specific competencies.
