JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to perform a variety of routine transportation tasks to facilitate the delivery of products, supplies and custom orders between the bakery, retail locations and special event venues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates company-owned and/or leased vehicles for the delivery, pick-up and relocation of bakery products and other supplies/materials.
Plans daily deliveries by organizing loads and routing.
Performs required before-, during-, and after-operation 'user maintenance'; provides required receipts and reports.
Ensures outstanding guest service by delivering exemplary customer service during delivery operations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (including required licenses or certifications)
High school diploma or GED
Ability to successfully obtain/maintain CDL license.
1 or more year(s) as a delivery driver is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Ability to develop and maintain productive and positive relationships with vendors, customers, and other employees.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal/external customers.
Strong organizational skills for the performance of a variety of administrative duties. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

Additional Information
As a Non Emergency Medical Transportation company our main hours of operation are 6 AM - 6 PM Monday through Saturday, however as we travel anywhere within the state of Kansas, as well as outside of the state borders when necessary, hours needed for transport can exceed those hours of operation on either end.
We are looking for individuals who are wanting and willing to drive up to 200 miles outside of the city of Wichita for transport needs, with wide hours of availability to accommodate what our contracts need from us.
As a driver for UMT you would be an independent contractor, so you supply what your hours of availability are and we schedule you within that based on the trips we have assigned. Not only do you determine your own hours to a degree, you get to enjoy your vehicle as your office space every day! The schedule tends to become more fluid on some days, but you always get to choose the music, or muzak!

Job Responsibilities:
Product donation local pickups and deliveries throughout the eight-county service territory.

Cover routes for other drivers when needed.

Qualifications:
Minimum high school diploma and two (2) years of professional truck driving experience, preferably in a grocery or food-related environment encompassing sales and customer relations.
Possession of a valid Ohio Class A-Commercial Driver's License (CDL), current Medical Examiner's Certificate (medical card) with the requirement of renewing no less than every 2 years, current DMV printout with no moving violations, and forklift certification, with the necessary experience to pass a performance review.
Proven ability to drive tractor-trailers and operate standard warehouse equipment. Ability to safely operate all types of equipment, including, but not limited to, pallet jacks, forklifts and tow motors.
Excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to define problems and move to resolution for preventative equipment maintenance.
Strong mechanical aptitudes and a working knowledge of transportation and warehouse equipment.
Knowledge of DOT regulations and CSA requirements.
Proven ability to work steadily and independently with minimum supervision and to follow standardized procedures and set schedule.
Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records. Add, subtract, multiply and divide units of weight successfully, compute ratio, rate and percent. Write reports and record transactions with proper format and legibility, using all parts of speech.
Exert force and/or lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds frequently.
Work inside freezers and coolers with a temperature range of -10 degrees F. to 38 degrees F.
Ability to work well with other staff and to relate well to donors and agency representatives. Speak to customers with poise, voice control and confidence, imparting information in a clear and understandable manner to uphold the Foodbank brand in the community that we serve.
Must be an enthusiastic professional with a high level of customer orientation and relationship building skills.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Current Medical Examination Card; upon hire and maintain thereafter.
Minimum age of 21 years, if required to drive bus across state line.
Pass pre-employment drug screening and background search requirements as listed on Conditional Job Offer; upon hire and continuously meet requirements thereafter. Participate in subsequent drug/alcohol testing and background searches as appropriate.
Acceptable MVR results upon hire, and annually thereafter.
Minimum of three years of driving experience.
Pass Tri-Valley Transportation Driver Certification training and observation provided upon hire; must pass to continue employment.
Bus Driver I: Valid Driver's License; upon hire and maintain thereafter.
Bus Driver II: Valid Commercial Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement; upon hire and maintain thereafter.
Don't Meet the Requirements
Tri-Valley will work with unqualified bus drivers and provide the following to help obtain CDL with passenger endorsement within 90 days from employment:
Up to 10 hours of entry level driver training and classroom instruction to pass the written CDL with passenger endorsement test and to administer the ELDT knowledge test.
Up to 30 hours of 1:1 training time to learn and practice driving with a Tri-Valley bus.
Up to 15 hours of ride along training time to observe qualified drivers on the job.
Bus and driver to take the behind the wheel test.

Read and interpret maps and driving directions to take the most efficient route and interpret road signs in English.
Responds immediately to accidents or medical emergencies by notifying emergency response providers and rendering First Aid and/or CPR until emergency personnel arrive.
Understand and adheres to Minute Man Arc's Vehicle Safety and Driving Record Evaluations Policy.
Qualifications
Experience in the human services field a plus.
Valid drivers' license and an acceptable driving record.
Obtain, and maintain, certification in First Aid, CPR, and Drivers' Safety and other mandated trainings.
Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of individuals verbally.
Must be able to work independently while demonstrating effective time management, organizational, and planning skills.
