The TRIO Programs at the University of North Texas at Dallas were designed to support the academic development of students in our programs. They are 100% federally funded grants that serve under resourced and under prepared students.
Position Overview
The Upward Bound Program Coordinator (UB) is responsible for supporting the UB program requiring a general working knowledge of TRIO programs specifically Upward Bound. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of tasks which may include assisting with data collection, data input, program monitoring, program assessment, student support, community outreach, assisting in developing and conducting programs, reporting, and program marketing.

Responsible for the identification, recruitment, selection, and delivery of services to participants each year. Responsible for collecting appropriate demographics, income verification, and academic documentation (report cards, transcripts, standardized test scores, IEP/ITP, 504, or medical documentation) to complete the application process prior to acceptance.
Conduct effective and grade appropriate workshops/activities via group and/or individual meetings, that include sessions regarding college selection, career awareness, financial aid, scholarship information, standardized test preparation, tutoring, academic advising, technical assistance with college admissions and financial aid applications, campus enrichment activities, educational field trips, and career and college day programs, annually.
Responsible for postsecondary placement and the tracking of all assigned college ready participants by providing individualized technical assistance with the college and financial procedures to monitor and ensure that the program meets its goal of postsecondary enrollment and completion, annually.
Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and submission of weekly and monthly reports regarding all major areas of responsibility including the progress of assigned participants, verification of high school graduating seniors, and postsecondary enrollment.
Use of personal transportation for travel (with reimbursement) to and from target schools and community activities. Required participation in some weekend meetings, parents nights, target school open houses, overnight field trips, and summer residential program.
Responsible for reviewing participants needs assessments and developing an Individualized Action Plan (IAP) for all assigned participants to ensure that students receive the appropriate support services that would address their identified needs, annually.

The Orientation and Transition Programs office at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Student Services Coordinator working with Pre-College Transition Programs. The office of Orientation and Transition Programs is a department within the Division of Student Affairs and provides new students, continuing students, and family members with the tools necessary to make a smooth transition to UNT and toward graduation.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for providing leadership to the university's pre-college initiative programs. Our office develops and implements programs and services intended to provide prospective university students with a positive impression of the university and assist with their transition to being a college student. The Student Services Coordinator working with Pre-College Transition Programs is expected to implement transitional programs during the academic year and summer to connect prospective students to the university community, employ a variety of communication strategist to inform high school students and administrators of events and processes and provide a welcoming environment to all prospective students and guests to UNT.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Assists with the coordination and implementation of campus wide Welcome Week programs and transitional programming initiatives, including the First Flight Kick Off, and other signature welcome week programs, that assist with the high school to college transition.
Assists with the coordination of the Future Eagles Program, a partnership with Denton Independent School District to bring all 8th grade students to campus for a day-long experience to expose them to the concept of going to college.
Serves as the departmental liaison to the campus wide Admissions Events Committee and the departmental representative for admissions events and travel/recruitment. -
Supports all departmental initiatives, including taking the lead on some programmatic aspects of new student orientation. -

Department Summary
The Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) is a unique residential program for high school-aged Texas students who are high achievers and interested in mathematics and science. While living on campus in McConnell Hall, students in this two-year program complete a rigorous academic curriculum of college coursework at the University of North Texas (UNT). Position Overview
Provide academic assistance to individual students at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree and two years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, professional academic advising, or related experience.

Job Duties
Contact faculty to obtain course syllabi, and create calendar of assignments and exam dates each semester. During Fall, Spring, Summer semesters, collect students grades from faculty in order to monitor students academic progress.
Contact incoming students during the Summer prior to their attendance in order to build rapport. Monitor students class attendance and report absences to parents and Associate Dean when necessary. Identify students having academic difficulties and provide information relative to time management and study skills. Communicate with parents to discuss students academic progress when necessary. Prepare and submit weekly and end-of-semester reports to Associate Dean of TAMS concerning students academic progress and attendance. Provide academic advising to students regarding course selection to ensure students enroll in required courses in order to complete their TAMS curriculum.
Provide advising and writing assistance to second-year students during the college application process. Each Summer in collaboration with the Associate Dean and other Academic Counselors, plan and conduct the Early Start program for incoming TAMS students.
Maintain high ethical standards and collegiality within TAMS-Honors. Attend and/or provide support for various events in TAMS-Honors, including but not limited to: (1) Summer Orientation each June; (2) Fall Orientation each August; (3) TAMS Seminar; (4) PSAT administration; (5) Competition-level tests (e.g., Olympiad, AMC, etc); (6) TAMS Convocation each Fall; (7) TAMS Commencement each Spring; and, (8) Scholars Day and the Medallion Ceremony (Honors).
