The PatientServiceCoordinator (PSC), under the director of the Administrative Manager and Supervisor, will be responsible for providing high volume customer service and clerical support to coordinate and facilitate patient care within the units. The PSC will be responsible for coordinating perioperative services appointments. The position requires the ability to interact with patients, their families, physicians and other healthcare team members within the unit.

Be part of a world-class academic healthcare system, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, as a Insurance Verifier. This position will be primarily a work from home opportunity with the requirement to come onsite as needed. You may be based outside of the greater Chicagoland area.
The Insurance Verifier is under the supervision of the Patient Access leadership, initiates the process for all scheduled elective outpatient services and inpatient admissions. This includes verification for observation cases as well as add on procedures. The Insurance Verifier will be responsible for indicating if the services are financially cleared prior to the date of service. The insurance verifier will secure the necessary authorizations to support the services being ordered and in the event of an inpatient admission, they will initiate the notification of admission within the payer guidelines. They will be responsible for staying abreast of payer rules according to policy as well as state and federal billing and collection regulations. They will perform all clerical processing for completion and disposition of assigned accounts, handle patient and third-party payer inquiries as needed, makes necessary follow-up on those arrangements to ensure compliance with appropriate hospital and departmental collection policies and procedures assuring satisfactory disposition of all encounters.
Essential Job Functions
* Responsible for obtaining daily work list assigned to the employee to begin financial clearance process prior to the date of service for elective scheduled services and within payer guidelines for the notification of admission. Obtaining the authorization for the services rendered to ensure proper reimbursement and denial mitigation.
* Handles all add-ons as assigned per work list, this includes STAT cases that need to be worked as priority per department policy
* Secure all required clinical documentation needed to obtain the authorization
* Maintain that all encounters needing verification is completed within 48 hours
* Notify the patient as well as the ordering provider if an authorization has been delayed and work with the department to reschedule the services until the authorization of financial clearance has been obtained.

* Documents the hospital operating system with all pertinent information to support the claim if applicable. This includes the reference number of the person you spoke with at the insurance company, the name, pending authorization, clinical information for clinical documentation, etc.
* Requires the ability to sufficiently understanding insurance protocols for referrals, co-payments, deductibles, allowances, etc., and analyzes information received to determine patients' out-of-pocket liabilities
* Run medical necessity as needed per payer
* Collects out-of-pocket liabilities from patients upfront and applies, adjusts, and reconciles daily point- of-service cash reports
* Communicates the estimated out of pocket liability for the visit.
* Refers self-pay patients to Financial Counseling for self-pay screening to determine if the patient is qualified for additional financial assistance.
* Refers patient accounts to financial counselors when further explanation/education is needed regarding denied authorizations, out-of-pocket liabilities, coverage options, payment plans, etc.
* Performs other clerical duties as assigned by Manager, Patient Access and/or supervisor(s)

We are looking for a Baseball/Softball Coordinator to manage and optimize the various systems needed to execute this vision. Reporting to the Senior Director, Academy Programs, the Baseball/Softball Coordinator is primarily responsible for the development and effective implementation of Academy baseball/softball programs/curricula by providing baseball/softball direction on the field and daily practicing planning. In addition to on the field responsibilities, this position will provide support and oversight during mentoring time, enrichment, gathering time, and other activities, as requested. The Baseball/Softball Coordinator will also oversee and manage college/high school-aged volunteers and mealtime. The Baseball/Softball Coordinator should be well-versed in youth development and the importance of growing social and emotional skills. Lastly, the Baseball/Softball Coordinator must have the ability to manage behavioral challenges posed by Scholar Athletes through mediation and restorative practices. Standardized Patients (SPs) are trained individuals who simulate real patient scenarios to support clinical education across physical and mental health disciplines. They recreate patient histories, personalities, emotional responses, and physical findings to help learners practice and refine clinical and interpersonal skills. SPs may be interviewed and examined by students and health professionals as part of their training. This is a part-time position with intermittent work hours.
There are three levels of roles in the program, each requiring specific skills and experience:
Standardized Patient (SP): Simulates patient scenarios for educational purposes.
Physical Examination Teaching Associate (PETA): Standardized patients who are specifically trained to teach, assess, and provide feedback to learners about physical examination techniques. They can also address the communication skills needed.
Sensitive Exam Teaching Associate (SETA): Standardized patient encounters involving sensitive exams. This role requires additional training due to the nature of the exam. Sensitive exams typically include breast, pelvic, rectal, and/or testicular exams.

Duties/Responsibilities
Portray patients in various scenarios surrounding, for example, independent living for elders desiring to age in place and the use of telehealth for primary care and self-management of chronic conditions, hospital rooms, or clinics. Some scenarios may require physical examinations, including touch to sensitive areas, while wearing appropriate garments.
Scenarios will be audio and videotaped during simulations and posted for educational use within a password protected learning management system and may also be used for educational research.
Simulate all aspects of scenarios in a standardized, accurate, and reliable manner; including but not limited to history of current problem, affect or behavior, and physical findings.
Portray difficult personality types and sensitive subject matter.
Provide debriefing and/or direct feedback to students regarding interpersonal communication and physical examination skills.
Participate in group training and/or mentorship of entry-level standardized patients.

Required Knowledge and Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Must be highly dependable and punctual.
Demonstrated ability to be instructed by a Standardized Patient Educator. Ability to accept ongoing feedback from facilitators and incorporate feedback into case simulations.
Must be able to follow written and verbal instruction.
Must observe and accurately document student performance on skills checklists and rating scales.
All Standardized Patients will participate in continuous quality improvement through video review.

JOB SUMMARY: A Standardized Patient (hereafter referred to as "SP") is an individual who will be trained to accurately portray the role of a patient with a specific medical condition or health issue. SPs portray the specific situation or problem exactly the same way each time they encounter a student. The SP will also represent a variety of personality types and be expected to deal with sensitive subject matter. The SP may be asked to give constructive feedback and evaluate the performance of students using standardized measurement tools. The SP Program gives medical and pharmacy students the opportunity to practice their clinical skills in a controlled environment. This position will pay $17 per hour.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Memorizes/learns a case script portraying a specific health concern or situation along with the specific emotions, behaviors, and disease signs and symptoms during simulated learning situations;
* Interacts with medical students in a standardized manner during simulated interactive patient history and/or medical examinations;
* Permits interviews and physical examinations, with or without a hospital gown where appropriate, wearing socks, shorts, and undergarments, while on camera, and while being observed live or on video monitor;
* Accurately remembers encounters with students for the purpose of accurately rating student behaviors;
* Permits observation by new SPs within the learning process;
* Maintains confidentiality of information related to cases, student behaviors, evaluation, and personal information regarding other SPs; and
* Perform other duties as assigned / needed to maintain Institutional efficiency and effectiveness and to support and promote LECOM's mission.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and experience equivalent to: High school degree or equivalent is required, Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, especially in the following fields of study: health science, psychology, and/or performing arts. Acting experience is helpful, but not required. Must be able to read, understand, and write in English, the dominant student language.
