The Laboratory Educator will ensure that the cosmetic science laboratory environments are safe and suitable for instruction. The individual will support the development and implementation of the cosmetic science curriculum, including traditional instructional laboratories and industry-based competitions. Additionally, they will teach two laboratory courses per academic year, maintain and coordinate the use of equipment, and train users.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Administrative Duties: a) Keep detailed records of experiments and manage lab usage schedules. b) Maintain records of inventories, purchases, warranties, repairs, services, and operating instructions for lab materials. c) Assist faculty in selecting students for industry-based competitions, internships, and scholarships. d) Participate in departmental faculty/staff meetings, attend seminars, and engage in professional development. e) Serve as the primary contact with STS regarding computer use and requirements for teaching laboratories. f) Prepare routine correspondence and memoranda detailing cosmetic science lab services and relevant announcements. g) Assist in preparing research proposals, publications, presentations, and partnership agreements. h) Coordinate laboratory and classroom upgrades, including repair and maintenance of major lab equipment and replacement of workstations. i) Provide logistical support for events sponsored by the Office of Science Infrastructure. Laboratory Management, Safety and Compliance: a) Maintain and organize laboratory equipment and supplies by: Calibrating, servicing, and repairing instruments to ensure all equipment is functional. This includes overhead stirrers, homogenizers, rheometers, refractometers, conductance meters, moisture analyzers, friction analyzers, viscometers, and rancimats. Assessing and making recommendations regarding the technology needs for the cosmetic science laboratory to improve efficient and effective technology integration. Inventorying and upgrading laboratory equipment and computers in preparation for the upcoming academic year. Identifying and ordering materials, supplies, and chemicals necessary for instructional labs, and disposing of outdated materials. b) Serve as a primary point of contact for issues of lab safety and maintenance contracts and keep the Director abreast of emergencies related to the cosmetic science laboratories. Adhere to the safety regulations and procedures outlined by the College, as governed by state and federal guidelines. Enforce safety standards and procedures to maintain a safe working environment, including training lab users on proper safety practices, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing hazardous materials. Collaborate with the Environmental Health and Safety Manager to create and implement new safety protocols and serve on the Science Center Safety sub-committee. c) Coordinate deliveries with the Science Infrastructure Shipping and Inventory Coordinator. d) Establish a system to improve the efficiency of cosmetic science equipment use, including creating user logs and scheduling protocols for the core facility. e) Collaborate with evaluators to establish protocols for analyzing the impact of cosmetic science learning activities and generating relevant reports. f) Communicate with stakeholders regarding the status of data acquisition, student training, and instrument upgrades and repairs. g) Stay current on changes and innovations in laboratory education and identify new techniques and instrumentation that could advance the cosmetic science curriculum. Support for Instruction and Learning: Teaching students or new lab personnel how to properly use lab equipment, conduct experiments, and follow safety protocols. This can involve both formal classroom instruction and hands-on training. a) Teach two laboratory courses per academic year, grade student assignments, maintain a grade book, and manage laboratory activities in the learning management system. b) Oversee industry-based competitions by supervising laboratory experiments, coordinating meetings with industry partners and team mentors, monitoring student progress, and identifying necessary support and additional resources to ensure project success. c) Coordinate lab-based course activities by setting up supplies, chemicals, and instruments for instructional laboratories and ensuring the laboratories are cleaned after activities. d) Supervise student workers, teaching assistants, and laboratory assistants. e) Assist with designing new lab activities and experiments, troubleshooting potential problems, translating experimental protocols for students and faculty, and training faculty on new activities. f) Assist students and researchers in understanding methodologies and instrumental techniques. g) providing technical assistance and training to investigators, their students, and individuals associated with cosmetic science laboraotry h) Oversee activities for the laboratory intensive and other co-curricular initiatives related to cosmetic science.

Required Qualifications
A master's degree in cosmetic science, formulation chemistry, polymer chemistry, material science, or a closely related chemical science or engineering is required. Candidates must be resourceful and able to handle situations with diplomacy and confidentiality, work under time constraints, and collaborate effectively with various constituents. Excellent oral communication skills are essential, including the ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries and complaints from faculty, students, staff, administration, partners, and other constituents in both one-on-one and group situations. Candidates must also have excellent written communication skills and be able to: Prepare lab protocols and read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Job Summary
The Standardized Patient Educator, reporting to the Director of Standardized Patients, serves as an essential team member in the recruitment and preparation of participants in the Standardized Patient (SP) in the SPEAR Center. The SP Educator works directly with SPs to prepare and evaluate their performance in portraying patients and other healthcare members in simulations for health professions learners.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Recruitment and Training
Train SPs in patient and other healthcare role portrayal to facilitate medical interviewing, communication, and physical exam skills by health professions learners.
Ensure SP preparation, portrayal standardization, and assessment consistency to meet educational objectives, and program and event requirements.
Actively seek opportunities in healthcare simulation to reduce healthcare disparities.
Prepare and revise SP training documents and other materials.
Observe and evaluate SP performance and provide constructive feedback to improve role portrayal.
Program Development
Collaborate with the SPEAR team to coordinate the development and implementation of complex, detailed simulation events.
Use an evidence-based approach to drive quality in human simulation events.
Align SP training practices with the Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE) Standards of Best Practices (SOBPs).
Maintain documents and records in support of reporting and accreditation.
Contribute to the program business activity, administration, and reporting.
Case Review
Lead the SP unit review of new and modified simulation cases to ensure SP scripts are high quality and effective in meeting stated learning objectives.
Contribute expertise to stakeholders and SPEAR team members to maximize the educational value of human simulation.
Collaborate with SPEAR Liaison Directors on SP script development and revision.
Event Coordination

* Job ID 278801 # 40083728 The Medical College of Georgia's Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at Augusta University is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, to support its teaching, scholarship, and service programs in response to anticipated growth in undergraduate medical education class size, the Family Medicine Residency Program, and Wellstar MCG Health primary care clinical services.
This position is a Clinician Educator who will oversee the provision of prenatal care within the Family Medicine Clinic and the education of medical learners in the delivery of medical care to pregnant patients.
Clinician Educators in the DFCM provide academic support in all years of MCG's curriculum. Faculty course involvement includes preclinical electives and interdisciplinary required courses, and a six-week Family Medicine distributed clerkship. The department also sponsors hospital and ambulatory, research, public and population health, and vulnerable population electives.
This position is not considered to be on tenure track.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the provision of prenatal care within the Family Medicine Clinic and the education of medical learners in the delivery of medical care to pregnant patients.
* Periodically provide didactic education to medical students and residents.
* Engage in prescribed faculty development and mentoring programs to facilitate the use of Patient-and Family-Centered Care (PFCC) clinical instructional environments to meet UME and GME requirements and promote scholarship and professional progression in the context of academic and clinical activities of the department, college, and university.
* Provide teaching and attending support for learners in the Family Medicine GME program.
* Provide support for student, resident, and post-graduate core and continuing medical education.
* Engage in department areas of clinical and educational scholarship, the results of which should be disseminated at local, regional, and national peer reviewed presentation and publication venues.

Required Qualifications

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state, and two four-year campuses located in Athens (in partnership with the University of Georgia) and in Savannah (in partnership with Georgia Southern University). MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provide more than 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. The University of Georgia School of Medicine located in Athens, GA, is seeking an experienced, innovative faculty member who will serve as a Clinical Science Educator (MD, DO or equivalent) to teach across all four years of our undergraduate medical education curriculum in the areas of clinical skills, community and population health, simulation, and in large group learning and small group facilitation. There may also be opportunities to serve in curriculum leadership roles and/or participate in clinical care in an outpatient setting. All specialties and backgrounds will be considered, though a background in a primary care field is preferred since work in School based clinics, Community Public Health clinics, and clinical skills education will be expected tasks.
Our students study clinical and basic sciences in a highly integrated, systems-based, hybrid curriculum that incorporates active learning strategies into large and small group settings. Clinical Science and Basic Science Educators work closely together in this setting to provide a unique learning experience for our students. Clinical Science and Basic Science Educators work in pairs within our unique curriculum to facilitate case-based small group student learning on a weekly basis. We seek outstanding, team-oriented faculty members who will share our excitement in continuing to build this dynamic and innovative educational program. Preference will be given to candidates who also demonstrate a commitment to educational research or other scholarly endeavors. The UGA Health Sciences Campus offers unique opportunities for medical education research through collaboration with faculty across the University of Georgia and other institutions. The successful candidate will have a primary appointment with the new UGA School of Medicine (SOM) as well as an adjunct appointment with the Augusta University Medical College of Georgia (AU). Our campus will continue to train AU medical students until approximately 2030 as the UGA SOM takes hold.

Preference will be given to individuals with prior teaching background in U.S. medical education programs (a background in case-based and active learning methods in small and large group settings is especially desirable), and to those who will be actively engaged in some form of research or scholarship.
