The Life Modeling Operations Team is a diverse team that supports the complex life actuarial modeling ecosystem, which consumes data from multiple sources across USAA to support actuarial functions. Your role also supports Life/Annuity/Health actuarial work through one or more of the following activities: data extraction, data transformation, validation and analysis, and system functionality oversight and integration. Responsible for providing technical and analytical solutions for one or more of the following functions: pricing and product development, experience studies, actuarial assumption reviews, reserve calculations, financial reporting, asset liability management or competitive analysis. This role is remote eligible in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel. However, individuals residing within a 60-mile radius of a USAA office will be expected to work on-site four days per week. What you'll do: Independently extracts, integrates and transforms data from a multitude of sources, and may identify new sources. Reconciles and validates data accuracy, and reasonability of actuarial or financial information. Prepares reports, reserve estimates, journal entries, financial statements, industry surveys and/or special studies, analyzes data, and recommends solutions. Develops comprehensive and innovative solutions that impact productivity to improve actuarial tools and processes. Resolves unique and complex issues and navigates obstacles to deliver work product. Develops cost benefit analysis. Provides insight to management on issues and serves as a resource to team members on escalated issues of an unusual nature. Leads projects related to actuarial solutions including automation, IT projects, or product development initiatives. Oversees requirement development process through testing and implementation. Demonstrates in depth understanding to identify and resolve issues or potential defects. Quantify the impact of improvements to prioritize initiatives and track results. Redesign processes to improve performance and/or to incorporate required changes in response to, but not limited to, new or updated regulations/rules, expansion or modification of products and services, organizational realignments, cost reduction initiatives, and introduction of new technologies. Work with key stakeholders to support the implementation of new products and services by designing new processes that maximize efficiency and effectiveness, integrate appropriate controls, support scalability, and comply with requirements, such as regulations, rules, Bank policies and standards, and client experience expectations. Identify and design controls to monitor process performance and results. Work with the Quality Assurance manager to develop and implement quality assurance reviews and with the Strategic Analytics team to develop and implement KPIs and control reports, as appropriate. Conduct capacity analysis to assess human resource utilization, based on the functional role's tasks/activities production volumes and processing time, to determine if it meets current and future demand. Prepare and deliver comprehensive Capacity Analysis report that includes the approach, measurements, current operational capacity, and recommended opportunities to optimize throughput and productivity. Build partnerships with department leaders, process owners, and SMEs so that business initiatives are aligned, regular two-way communication exists, downstream impacts are considered, business solutions are optimized, and implementation achieves desired outcomes. Provide regular updates of progress to process owners to ensure an ongoing partnership, input on direction, and linkage to other business initiatives. Manage designated process improvement and new process design projects by scoping, developing project plans / actions items, leading the execution, and reporting progress. Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.). Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training. Identifies and reports suspicious activity. Key Responsibilities Cross‑Specialty (Core) Responsibilities Expert Escalation Point: Lead resolution of complex coding, billing, and payer policy questions; guide staff on edits, bundling, and medical necessity. Charge Review & Edits: Monitor WQs for CCI/NCCI edits, MUEs, and payer-specific rules; correct and educate to prevent recurrence.
