Overview
Delivers and collects trays and menus to and from patients. Attends to all patient food service needs, including nourishments and snacks. Acts as liaison between the patient, the Food and Nutrition Service Department, and Nursing during meal times for communication of all patient food needs.
Responsibilities
* Visits patients to introduce the services of the Food and Nutrition Service Department. May interview patients to obtain food preferences and basic information, using the "Nourishment and Commercial Product Request" and "General Patient Information" forms; presents information collected to the Nutrition Office.
* Delivers and collects patient trays during meal service. Makes rounds on assigned floors after tray delivery to ensure patient satisfaction and identify meal service problems. Passes and collects patient satisfaction surveys to all patients in assigned area.
* Reports all meal service-related problems as observed on patient floors to the Patient Care Manager; records problems on "Host/Hostess Problem Record" form and notifies Nutrition Office.
* Collects Nutrition Care Order sheets from Nursing units and delivers them to the Nutrition Office.
* Distributes and collects patient menus according to pre-printed patient lists. Assists patients as required in completing menu choices (e.g., answering questions, filling out forms when requested to do so).
* Communicates with Nursing staff and responds to requests for deliveries of "early" and "late" patient trays.
* Delivers nourishments and/or between-meal snacks to patients as ordered by the Nutrition Office and Nursing.
* Cleans and maintains pantries, including refrigerator and cabinets. Checks and discards food with expired dates.
* Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Qualifications
Education:
High School graduation or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
6 months' related hospitality experience preferred (e.g., waiting tables, receptionist at restaurant)
Skills:
Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic data entry skills preferred (test will be administered).
Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position; knowledge of a second language helpful.
Pay Range
USD $25.24 - USD $25.78 /Hr.

Good interpersonal skills (eye contact, active listening, etc.), good verbal and written communication skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of nutrition principles, meal patterns and exchanges.
Able to use computer.
