Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is now accepting applications for All In High-Intensity Tutors to work on a temporary basis in schools throughout the division. Individual work assignments will be at one specific school. Work schedules will vary depending on the needs of each individual school.
Current MCPS employees do not need to apply online. Employees should inform their principal of their interest.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To develop and implement an instructional program that will effectively provide high-intensity academic tutoring to students in grades 3-8 that are “at risk” or “not proficient” based on statewide assessment results.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to facilitate strong, positive relationships with students and understand students' learning needs in math and reading
Incorporate progress monitoring into tutoring sessions in order to track student learning progress
Possess effective reading, writing, and computation skills
Possess effective oral and written communication skills
Possess the personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, and parents
Ability to navigate online platforms
Acceptance of flexible work schedule
Dependability and punctuality required

Please complete the online Substitute application and submit. Our Human Resources office will contact you with guidelines for an extensive background check and additional paperwork. Substitute teachers who hold a valid teacher license are eligible to serve as long-term substitutes. Should the assignment be considered a long term position (defined as more than twenty (20) consecutive days in the same assignment) the teacher would be paid one hundred fifty dollars ($150) per day beginning on the twenty-first (21) day of the same assignment.
No substitute placed on the official approved list is guaranteed or entitled to any appointment or to regular appointments. The Human Resources department may remove substitutes from the official approved list for any reason.

Plans lessons based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students which prepare students to pass the GED tests and/or enhance basic education skills. Implements a variety of instructional delivery methods, including group or individualized instruction, as well as computer programs that help students make learning gains. **EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
Bachelor's Degree required. Teaching experience and VA teaching license with an endorsement in adult education preferred.
