Summary
Under limited supervision, provides security coverage to the Graylyn Conference Center property, conducts foot patrols and security checks, monitors area for unauthorized users, responds to incidents, reports hazards, and completes necessary reports during the third shift. Assists Conference Set Up Department with set-up of meeting and dining rooms as needed. THIS POSITION IS THE THIRD SHIFT.
Essential Functions:
* Night watch operations: Performs foot and vehicle patrols of all buildings on the property.
* Monitors activities in and around buildings, parking lots, and open fields.
* Ensures guest and meeting rooms are locked and secure.
* Detects any safety hazards or issues, documents them and reports promptly.
* Performs clean up of bio-hazardous incidents, such as vomit or blood.
* Completes written documentation of all injuries, damaged property, theft, vandalism, etc.
* In the absence of the Manager on Duty, handles guest conflicts involving intoxication, unauthorized possession of alcohol, etc.
* In the absence of a Transportation Assistant, may drive to the airport to pick up/ drop off a guest.
* Enforces policies and procedures of the Conference Center.
* Responsible for the evacuation of buildings in emergencies.
* Performs all essential functions of a Set-Up Attendant.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
* High School graduate with one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Security experience, particularly in a hospitality setting, is preferred.
* Valid North Carolina driver's license and good driving record; must be insurable.
* Skill in building security and lock procedures.
* Skill in providing protection services.
* Ability to write detailed and accurate reports.
* Ability to detect criminal activity and communicate with Campus Police Officers.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
* Ability to use a computer for report writing.
* Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and make logical decisions.
* Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
* Ability to operate equipment safely, such as vehicle wheelchair lifts and two-way radios.
* Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
* Ability to complete First Aid, CPR and Bloodborne Pathogen training.
* Basic knowledge of Hazardous Materials.
* HBV vaccine.
* Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.
Accountabilities:
* Works under general supervision.
* Work requires contact with staff and guests, as well as University Police staff.
* Assists Graylyn Management with the prevention and detection of suspicious or criminal activity. (Ex. Thefts, Larcenies, Malicious Injury to Property).
* Routinely surveys Graylyn locations to check for any safety, health or environmental concerns.
* Completes operation reports and/or work orders to report any findings of a potential problem, notifies the proper Department; and offers suggestions on possible solutions for dealing with the particular situation.
Physical Requirements:
* Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (with help) and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
* Physical activities include: balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motion.
* The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

What You'll Do:
Provides security services with a customer-service approach, focusing on professionalism, fairness, and compassion even in challenging circumstances and in accordance with policies, procedures, and training.

Maintains current Department training standards in radio communications, verbal de-escalation, hemorrhage control (e.g. “STOP the BLEED”), CPR, application of clinical restraints, conducted energy weapon (e.g. TASER), to include training on any/all department-issued equipment and/or requirements identified in training academy and the Annual Training Plan.
Assists with exterior traffic and crowd control, including parking enforcement, valet parking assist, and vehicular assistance

We are looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate SecurityOfficer to join our team. The SecurityOfficer patrols community, responds to emergencies and notifies proper authorities, identifies safety hazards, and provides necessary reporting. Supports other departments as needed. This position is the front line defense on any potential service failures and will be asked to perform specific functions related to other departments. This can include but is not limited to: resident services functions, parking, marketing tours, maintenance needs, administrative needs, resident deliveries, and healthcare support when it is warranted.
The hours for this role will be 7 am - 3:30 pm with a weekend rotation.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Patrol community premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, equipment and vehicles.
Correct or report safety hazards.
Confront unauthorized persons to determine their purpose and/or ask them to leave.
Contact the proper authorities to have them escorted from the property, if necessary.
Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences.
Initiate work orders and/or document security issues.
Send daily shift report to designated personnel.
Answer phone calls, take messages, answer questions, and provide information to residents during business hours or when concierge is off-duty.
Respond to fire alarms by investigating locations and accompanying the fire department through the facility.
Notify police in case of suspicious activity.
Operate under the Medical Director's authorized medical protocols.
Dispatch ambulance or non-emergency medical transportation as needed.
Pick up and dispose of trash as needed.
Assist with maintenance and grounds duties in the absence or shortage of staff.
Support all other departments, especially after hours and on weekends.
All other duties assigned include, but not limited to, enhancing the Resident Experience.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Drivers License
Security patrol/officer experience is preferred, some on-the-job training will be provided.
Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions. Must be able to use a computer and be able to work in Microsoft Office.
Must have effective written and verbal communication skills and be able to work collaboratively within a diverse work group.
Must enjoy working with and cooperate with other employees and department directors.
Must be willing and eager to provide assistance to the residents of the facility.
Must have a genuine interest in geriatric care and believe in and uphold the facility's philosophy.
Must have the ability to stay alert throughout shift.

providing security for County owned property. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS An employee in this class provides armed security for all County owned property. Essential Duties and Tasks
* Provides armed security for County property making periodic checks 24 hours a day.

* Must pass Defensive Driving (4D) Course.
* Must be available for all shifts.
* Subject to 24-hour emergency call in.
