This position will solely support our Infusion Center where we provide IV infusions to pediatric patients from across North Carolina. Basic skills required (quality customer service, accurate vital sign measurement, specimen collection and transport, immunization administration, supply management and ordering, and other clinical support as needed). We are able to offer flexible shifts: 8 hour days for 5 days/week or 9 hour days for 4 days/week. No holidays or weekends are required. Summary: The Medical Assistant II, Certified provides routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other health care team members in an outpatient clinic setting. Works under the clinical supervision of the provider for patient care activities, and under the general direction of the designated manager/supervisor. Responsibilities: 1. Performs rooming and/or intake process, collecting and data, including vital signs, height, weight, and data related to patient's reason for visit. 2. Collects patient and family data, including medical and social history. 3. Reviews patient's current medication list, allergies and preferred pharmacy. 4. Assists the provider as directed, during treatments, examinations and procedures. 5. Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy. 6. Administers medications under the direction of a provider. 7. Performs tests, for examples EKG, eye exams, under the direction of a provider. 8. Reviews the patient record to determine whether patient requires any routine health screenings. 9. Ensures exam/procedure room contains appropriate supplies, equipment, forms and educational materials are available and ready for use during visit/procedure. 10. Provides patient with after-visit, follow-up, self-care or procedural instructions and/or educational materials as directed. 11. Prepares, cleans, stocks and maintains exam and treatment rooms. 12. Cleans and sterilizes instruments. 13. Assists with patient registration, check in/check out, appointment scheduling, and scheduling of tests and treatments, and referrals. 14. Answers clinic telephone and assists in-basket under the direction of a provider or nurse. 15. Assists in emergency situations as directed by a provider or nurse. 16. What You'll Do Job responsibilities include: Patient Rooming: Efficiently prepare exam rooms and escort patients for timely appointments. Inbox Management: Manage electronic in-baskets, including sending messages to providers and patients, processing prescription refills, and responding promptly to inquiries. Prior Authorizations: Complete and submit prior authorization requests accurately and within required timeframes. Vaccine Coordination: Oversee vaccine orders, maintain inventory, and ensure proper documentation. Order Reviews: Verify and process provider orders to maintain accuracy and compliance. What We're Looking For Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Must be a graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program; Medical Assistant curriculum must include pharmacology and medication administration. Certification/registry must be obtained by the last day of the sixth month of hire, and an education agreement signed. Certification/registry accepted: CMA with the American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA), RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) American Allied Health (AAH), and RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). Alternative Work Experience (for eligibility to take NHA, ARMA, NHCWA, NCCT, NAHP or AMT exams, if not already certified or registered on hire): Applicant shall be employed as a supervised medical assistant for a minimum of one (1) year (NHA or NHCWA) within the last three (3) years, for a minimum of 2 years (NCCT, NAHP), for a minimum of 3 years (ARMA), for a minimum of 5 years (AMT) of the last 7 years (with no more than 2 of those years as an instructor in a post-secondary medical assistant program).
