Example of Duties

Assists with leading work crews in general landscape and facilities maintenance.
Performs a variety of landscaping maintenance duties such as mowing, trimming, fertilizing, edging, etc.

Performs complex irrigation system repairs
Performs auditing of irrigation systems.
Performs preventative irrigation system maintenance.
Assists with startup and shut down of irrigation system and maintenance of water features throughout the gardens.
Assists with maintaining inventory of irrigation parts and supplies.
Works with outside contractors to repair and upgrade irrigation system.
Performs equipment maintenance on vehicles and equipment such as, but not limited to: trucks, off-road vehicles, mowers, trimmers, blowers, snow removal equipment, edgers, chainsaws /power tools, etc.
Assists with maintenance of greenhouse structure and mechanicals.
Assists with record keeping and administrative duties as required.
Performs snow and ice removal duties.
May work with a variety of volunteers on various projects.
Performs manual labor, duties relation to development of park projects as assigned.
Assists with group park projects as assigned.
Operates a variety of vehicles and equipment including trucks, grounds maintenance equipment, power tools, chainsaws, Bobcat, tractors, etc.
May provide instruction to others in various aspects of assigned duties.
Qualifications
Education: Completion of secondary education (high school or GED) plus some additional vocational/technical training or other specialized formal education or equivalent in landscaping, irrigation, carpentry, construction, equipment/vehicle mechanics and some experience in a related capacity/field or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with coworkers and general public on a daily basis.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision. Ability to interpret and carry out a variety of instructions; define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; maintain accurate records, understand manuals and verbal instructions that are technical in nature, and work alone on most tasks.

The Olentangy Reemployment Plan is an 8 week program in partnership with the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department.
Example of Duties
Performs a variety of landscaping, maintenance and resource management duties including, but not limited to mowing, invasive species removal, trail maintenance, fertilizing, trimming, mulching, etc.
Picks up litter and empties trash receptacles.
Performs basic trail maintenance including clearing paths, trimming, and pruning using pruners, shovels, rakes, hand saws, hand axes, etc.
Operates basic construction equipment including but not limited to power tools, line trimmers, mowers, chain saws, skid steers, etc.
Plant, fertilize, prune, water and transplant trees.

Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe, responsible and efficient manner.
Control ice accumulations at jobsites with the safe and responsible use of de-icing agents (salt, treated salt, liquids or other de-icing chemicals).
Hand-shovel, snow blow or hand-treat site areas as required (walkways, doorways, fire equipment, etc).
Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.
Accurately document site service records for each and every site visit.
Submit paperwork and documentation promptly at the end of each shift and document and report any obstacles at site(s).
Qualifications
Must be available 24hrs/day, 7 days/week at any time a snow or ice event occurs.
Experienced in the operation and use of a snowplow or skidsteer.
Reliable transportation
Work outdoors in extreme cold, snow, and ice conditions on a regular basis.
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Additional Information
On Call seasonal/contract position expected to last from November 15 to April 15.
Available 24/7 during snow events.

Performs fertilization and pest management on trees, shrubs and lawns using spray and injection tools by performing the following duties.
The position is currently working out of the existing Davey Tree location in North Royalton, Ohio. However, this position will eventually be moving to a new office that will be opening in the Greater Northwest Cleveland area in the coming months. You must be comfortable with the office location moving to a new location in Northwest Cleveland.

Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping
Preferred: Turf, Weed, Tree and shrub ID, Pathology and knowledge of turf or tree physiology
Ability to complete the Davey Tree Qualified Plant Health Care Tech training program upon hire
Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
Valid driver's license
Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
