The Senior Manager, Volunteer and Community Engagement will steer the strategic vision for volunteer engagement across the United Way organization, modernize technology and processes to increase and align community and corporate volunteer engagement efforts, and build stronger community relationships.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Strategic Volunteer Engagement
* Continuously assess volunteer needs with internal and external partners. Prioritize needs based on ability to scale and design experiences that will engage volunteers to meet these needs.
* Work closely with Resource Development and Corporate Engagement team to promote and execute Fee for Service/Revenue Generation model based on custom volunteer experiences.
* Lead volunteer engagement strategies and multi-year plans for existing and potential top corporate supporters.
* Plan and execute multiple annual signature community volunteer initiatives that support United Way's work, including building strategic communication and recruitment plans to meet volunteer goals. Volunteer initiatives must meet United Way criteria: leadership, alignment, measurable impact, logistical support, United Way messaging, recognition, feedback, and data capture.
* Continuously increase and adapt knowledge of community challenges and opportunities, and United Way work to illustrate the organization's mission through volunteer engagement experiences.
Modernize Technology and Data Management
* Serve as team liaison for the Accountability and Technology Steering Committee. Ensure team needs are represented and included in decision making processes.
* Champion organizational technology advances: ensure team tracks all relevant data consistently and cleanly using tools and programs available.
* Continuously assess team specific technology platforms, lead change management processes for any new technology adoption.
* Responsible for leading annual reporting to United Way Worldwide, IRS, and other entities requiring volunteer engagement data.
* Oversee Volunteer Management Platform (VolunteerMatch), update listings for internal and external partners, ensure current or priority listings are featured.
Relationship Management
* Establish and deepen volunteer and community relationships through 1:1 internal and external meetings that serve to enhance engagement in and support of United Way's work.
* Develop a diverse pool of individual volunteers; collaborate with Major Gift Officers and Individual Engagement team members to identify volunteers and engage them in meaningful opportunities.
* Collaborate with Resource Development, Community Impact, Community Connections, and other internal teams to develop holistic volunteer and community engagement plans.
* Serve as an ambassador for United Way during community and corporate volunteer engagement events. Frequent public speaking is expected.
* Lead recruitment of internal volunteers for organizational community engagement events. Ensure United Way has a strong, organized, and reliable presence in the community.
Leadership and Team Management
* Lead a team of volunteer engagement professionals. Build capacity and identify synergies between volunteer and community efforts.
* Provide ongoing coaching and training for Volunteer Connection team members; train cross-functional team members as needed on new volunteer products, services, and programs.
* Develop metrics and strategic plans for meeting annual and long-term goals.
* Develop and manage corporate and community engagement budget.
* Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 5-10 years of relevant professional work experience (ex. Project management, customer service, social sector, volunteer management, etc.)
* Distinguished oral and written communication and presentation skills.
* Strong relationship building skills and customer service focused workstyle. Ability to work with diverse groups of people required.
* Strong business acumen
* Successfully manages multiple programs simultaneously.
* Works well under deadline pressure and meets timeline requirements.

Your Role
As an EngagementManager within our Customer Success team, you'll ensure that Cradle's largest customers achieve success across their entire protein R&D portfolio. Course / Program Description
This course provides a fundamental background for administrators in the public and private economic sectors, as well as a solid review of pre-M.B.A. mathematics. Topics include linear and matrix algebra (with special emphasis on demand/supply and cost/revenue analysis) and differential calculus. Students are encouraged to bring in examples of mathematical applications based on their professional experiences. Transferable for UC credit.
Job Description
Instructors teach students to understand the fundamentals, technical aspects, and concepts of the subject matter. More importantly, they prepare students to utilize this understanding practically in the workforce. In addition to teaching proficiency in technical matters, instructors utilize case studies and real-life examples wherever possible to help students take their understanding from the pages of the textbook into the work of the real world. To accomplish this, instructors foster a collaborative, inclusive learning environment developed to support the success of all UCLA Extension students coming from a wide range of educational, personal, and professional backgrounds.
This position has opportunities for in-person and/or online instruction.
Instructor Duties:
* Develop and/or update course syllabus in consultation with the UCLA Extension Program Director as assigned using approved syllabus template
* Prepare and deliver course materials and learning assessments in assigned format (in-person or hybrid)
* Utilize the Canvas Learning Management System as the course support platform for in-person courses and as the delivery platform for online and hybrid courses
* Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students and clearly outline the grading policies for the course
* Evaluate student achievement of specific learning outcomes and assign grades
* Post final student grades to the transcript system in a timely manner no later than 2 weeks after the last date of course meeting
* Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner.
* Stay current regarding the professional body of knowledge in the field of practice
* Participate in required orientations and instructor training programs
* Complete required administrative tasks in a timely manner including: completing all hiring paperwork; submitting updated quarterly syllabus; posting bio and photo on the UCLA Extension website; signing quarterly contract; ordering required texts; communicating AV and classroom needs.
* Employ culturally competent teaching methodologies in the classroom inclusive of both domestic and international student populations
* Use subject-matter expertise to impart knowledge to students and leverage additional resources appropriately to enhance the curriculum (i.e. make arrangements for guest speakers, etc.)
