    This is a training position. The Trainee will be enrolled in a state-approved training program for the Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist (CHS). (********************************************************************************************** While enrolled in the program, the trainee will be trained to perform: HLA typing by molecular methods (e.g., RT-PCR and NGS) KIR genotyping by SSP method Crossmatch by flow cytometry method Antibody screening by Luminex-based method Chimerism testing by NGS method Other procedures that are performed by licensed histocompatibility personnel. Other duties include Accession samples using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Isolate DNA from blood, buccal mucosa, and cells Isolate and cryopreserve lymphocytes from blood, spleen, and lymph nodes Prepare serum samples for testing Maintain samples in the inventory Prepare reagents for testing Perform QC and maintenance on various laboratory equipment Perform maintenance duties for lab space Order and stock lab supplies File lab reports Archive and scan documents Incumbents must satisfy the requirements of the state-approved training program for continuous enrollment. Employment beyond the training period is dependent upon the receipt of California license and availability of a CHS/CLS position at ITL. The scientist will draw on both deep technical knowledge and interpersonal skills to facilitate and accelerate academic research at the GSB Research Hub. A physicist is sought for an interdisciplinary study of observer effects as it relates to the quantum measurement problem. The study will be a comprehensive assessment of observer effects in wave function collapse but will uniquely include psychological perspectives and methods in the development of research designs. The primary investigator will be a psychologist and the study will be conducted within the Institute for Research in Social Sciences at Stanford University. The position will require that the researcher have a strong background in experimental methods, necessary to execute the Tonomura double slit design (using a BBO crystal) and the Mach-Zehnder interferometer design. A strong background in the quantum measurement problem would be desirable. The project will begin with a comprehensive review of the literature-both theoretical and experimental-on variables influencing wave function collapse and developing a plan for replicating or testing a wide range of them. It will then develop and apply methods for assessing and controlling variables related to observation, drawing on ideas from psychology as well as quantum physics. Data will be analyzed, and results will be published in peer reviewed outlets. The researcher will devote 80% of their time to the research project. This position will be responsible for planning and executing genomics and multi-omics experiments, analyzing data, and interpreting results in support of ongoing research projects. The individual in this role will specialize in genomics, liquid handling, and sequencing, and will be expected to take ownership of their assigned portion of the research and make recommendations on experimental design and/or research direction to the principal investigator as needed. This position will also be responsible for developing new research protocols where appropriate protocols are not described in the literature or where modification or adaptation of standard procedures and protocols is required. The individual will work in a multidisciplinary team, to develop new research protocols that lead to new knowledge or understanding, and to communicate the results of the research to both scientific and non-scientific audiences. This position involves overseeing the daily activities of the laboratory including lab maintenance, maintaining lab stock, managing chemical inventory and safety records, and providing general lab support as needed. The Life Sciences Professional 2 may assist with purchasing laboratory equipment and modifying or adapting laboratory equipment and/or developing new instruments to meet the needs of the research projects. This position is a two-year fixed-term appointment, with possibility of renewal based on programmatic need and funding availability, with a primary work site on Stanford University's main campus.
