UPMC Chartwell is looking for a Lead, RN to join their dedicated team! The Lead RN coordinates and performs skilled nursing care for patients in the home setting. Participates and provides leadership in teaching patients and significant others home infusion management; and provides guidance by working cooperatively with staff to establish priorities and goals of patient care. Provide expert infusion knowledge while acting as nurse coordinator, with the daily oversight of the nurse clinicians, and acting as a resource to the nursing staff. Additional responsibilities include orientation and mentoring new staff. Also, support the marketing efforts by providing education and assistance to referral sources and home cares.
This role will work primarily out of the Oakdale office, travelling to and from hospitals for in-person teaching and hookups. Occasional work from home. Primarily working 9 am to 5:30 pm, with on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
* Take on call responsibility as assigned to provide 24 hour availability, and provide these services in accordance with established protocols Communicate to supervisor, physicians and other health care providers, as appropriate. Communicate with others in a warm and helpful manner while simultaneously building credibility and rapport. Take initiative to present ideas/ suggestion to management.
* Take professional responsibility for self-protection during required work in potentially hazardous situations (i.e., handling of cytoxic agents, handling of blood and body fluids). Maintain professional licensure, certification and health requirements as well as demonstrating clinical competence of orientation programs, etc.
* Organize, oversee, and execute home health agencies clinical infusion competencies and ongoing education of home cares.
* Participate in the activities of the Performance Improvement Program,education committee and departmental meetings. Assist with the selection of new products and techniques.
* Orchestrates and supports complex change.
* Provide infusion, pre-discharge patient assessments, and other skilled nursing care to patients. Demonstrate ability to work effectively and maintain expected productivity. Complete and submit all required patient care documentation and reports in a timely manner.
* Perform duties of nursing supervisor as needed and facilitate daily oversight of the infusion nursing staff.
* Provides management with relevant information and offers input regarding external developments and opportunities.
* Provide expert infusion knowledge and act as resource to infusion nursing staff.
* Supports marketing efforts by assisting the sales team with referral processes at hospitals.
* Facilitate orientation of new nursing staff, and provide ongoing guidance for new staff.
* Develops and presents CE programs to referral sources, as requested.
* Assist supervisor with supervisory visits and competency validation of nursing staff.
* Assumes leadership duties in the absence of the Nursing Supervisor by scheduling of hospital teach and home visits.
Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or equivalent required.
* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
* Current state licensure (PA).
* Minimum of 5 years previous specialized infusion home health experience.
* CPR certification required.

This position will report directly to the Research Manager and work directly with Physician Investigators ("PI") on clinical research performed. Clinical Research Nurse C Responsibilities
* Work in collaboration with Research Team Leaders and Principal Investigators with initiating study procedures for new IITs and industry-sponsored clinical trials. Manage all aspects of Phase I - IV clinical trials. Participate in the conduct of audits by study sponsors, CROs, the FDA, the Eastern Oncology Group, the University of Pennsylvania's CTSRMC, and other groups.
* Work directly with physicians to design, set-up and execute clinical trials. May be required to speak at investigator meetings or site initiation visits for investigator-initiated trials ("IITs") where physician is the national PI. Assist in analyzing data to determine response and clinical outcomes; assist with literature reviews; contribute to preparation of study abstracts, posters, manuscripts and grant applications.
* Develop and maintain ongoing communication with the clinical teams including, but not limited to laboratory, infusion, radiology, Advanced Practitioners, triage, inpatient and pharmacy. Provide in-service and support to infusion, infusion pharmacy, inpatient staff as appropriate. Provide ongoing service education updates to all investigators and PAH/HUP staff that have eligible participants for clinical research trials
* Care for subjects in all age groups from young adult through geriatrics. Coordinate activities of oncology team in caring for subjects. Administer or provide oversight of administration of medications, chemotherapeutic drugs, biologic response modifiers, cellular immunotherapies and other treatment agents or study interventions, as appropriate.
* Review all clinical and laboratory data and adverse events, reporting in real-time to the Principal Investigator (PI) for assessment and review, and communicate with medical staff regarding protocol-specific management of toxicities and adverse events.
* Triage any questions subjects may have regarding protocol specifics, investigational products, lab results, effects of therapies, medications, and symptom management within clinical scope and level of expertise and referring other questions to the PI or medical team in order to obtain guidance or assistance.
* If needed, collect, review and report timely, valid, accurate study data within the timelines specified by the Clinical Trials Agreement. Coordination may also include: transporting specimens, submission of study documents to all applicable institutional committees (e.g., IRB, CTSRMC, IBC, CHPS) for initial approval, continuing reviews and for approval of any amendments.
* Provide coverage and support to other research nurses and coordinators to meet departmental/organizational staffing needs.
* This position will require the research nurse to have a variable schedule. Research subjects are seen in the clinical setting during early morning and early evening hours as well as daytime visits. Position involves work-related responsibilities that may occur outside of usual hours and some conference-related travel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* RegisteredNurse with licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania without restriction or limitation. Bachelor's degree with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Oncology experience highly preferred. Clinical Research Nurse D Responsibilities
The Clinical Research Nurse D will have the same duties as C but will include the following:
* This individual will work independently with minimal supervision. May act in a lead capacity or as back-up to supervisor.
* Work directly with physicians to design, set-up and execute studies. May be responsible for writing investigator initiated IND/IDE clinical trials in collaboration with faculty supervisor. Speak at investigator meetings or site initiation visits for IITs where collaborating physician is the Principal Investigator. Assist in analyzing clinical data to determine response and clinical outcomes; contribute to the preparation of study abstracts, posters, manuscripts and grant applications.
* Independently manage complex (i.e. multi-drug regimens, high toxicity potential, multiple random assignments, or immunotherapies, etc.) clinical trials and registries within the Pennsylvania Hospital Research Team.
* Provide coverage and support to other research nurses and coordinators to meet departmental/organizational staffing needs. Responsible for functional supervision of non-licensed personnel assigned to work with the nurse. Act in lead capacity in coordination of unit projects and assist unit managers in overseeing execution of project timelines as well as completion of study related activities delegated to research coordinator who provides study related support (e.g., regulatory submissions and data entry). Participate in core study team, disease-site group and ongoing protocol training/compliance meetings. Participate in working groups within the disease-site team that will maximize the efficiency and quality of research performed, including developing SOPs. Act as a mentor to newly hired staff.
* Represents the Pennsylvania Hospital Clinical Research Unit when meeting with Medical Science Liaisons, current and future research collaborators, and prospective donors; assists physician and unit manager in coordinating development plans. Participation in national meetings, as well as University department meetings and committees. Act as a facilitator and speak at community events organized by physicians in collaboration with non‐profit organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS:

UPMC Washington is currently hiring a Full-Time Professional Staff Nurse to support the 4S Surgical Intermediate Care Unit. This position will work rotating 12-hour shifts, with weekend and holiday requirements. is eligible for a generous Sign-On Bonus!
$20,000 with a 2-year commitment for qualified experienced RegisteredNurses with more than 1 year of experience
Graduate Nurses starting 1/1/2024 or later are eligible to receive up to a $15,000 Sign-On Bonus with a 2-year commitment.

About the Professional Staff Nurse Role
The Professional Staff Nurse is a RegisteredNurse and a member of the care delivery team. The Professional Staff Nurse is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Professional Staff Nurse has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of nursing care. The Professional Staff Nurse manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Professional Staff Nurse encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The Professional Staff Nurse establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Professional Staff Nurse demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrates accountability for professional development that improves the quality of professional practice and the quality of patient care. Actively participates in unit-based shared governance, goal setting and supports the change and transition process to improve quality of care and the practice environment. Serves as a highly engaged and full partner on the care team and responds willingly to care team member needs for assistance and partnership. Applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment. Formulates daily goals and a plan of care for patients that involves the patient as partner and considers the individual needs of the patient in a holistic manner. Demonstrates critical thinking in the identification of clinical, social, safety, psychological and spiritual issues for the patient care within an episode of care. Practices solid communication skills, and is able to articulate and translate the patient's condition to other care providers and to negotiate and make recommendations for changes in patient care and unit practices. Patient documentation is comprehensive and promotes communication between caregivers. Incorporates national professional organization as well as business unit and health system's goals to improve patient safety, quality and satisfaction. Creates a caring and compassionate patient focused experience by building healing relationships with patients, families and colleagues.
Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles (and/or teaching children if applicable) and applies in teaching of patients, families, students and new staff. Provides detailed and appropriate teaching to patients and families to effectively guide them through the episode of care as well as transition to another level of care and/or home. Supports the development of students, new staff and colleagues, may serve as a preceptor. Creates an environment of open dialogue, inquiry and continuous development by asking for feedback and improving practice.
Actively participates in department or unit-specific quality improvement efforts. Identifies opportunity for quality improvement to colleagues and management. Takes personal responsibility in improving patient satisfaction with the quality of care and service. Qualifications:
* Zero to two years of experience.
* Previous surgical nursing or patient care support experience preferred.
* The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.
* Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
* Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
* Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
* Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process.
* Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
* Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
* CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
* RegisteredNurse (RN).
* Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.
* Graduate nurses must complete licensure examination within SIX MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void).
* UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 6 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.
* UPMC approved national certification preferred.
