Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Provides intensive speech and language, feeding and/or Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) services and therapy to assigned caseload consistent with students' documented therapy goals, including those defined in areas of instructional and therapeutic focus and/or Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Develops and implements safe and appropriate therapeutic interventions; assists in development of feeding and meal-time plans, as needed.
Assesses and develops therapeutic plans that address the communication, AAC, oral motor and feeding needs of students based on their individual strengths and challenges.
Evaluates, documents and monitors treatment and progress in session notes, progress reports and evaluations in a timely manner.
Completes evaluations and assessments of students, establishing and updating therapeutic goals and/or Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as needed.
Communicates and collaborates with parents regularly and with medical professionals as needed, specifically as they impact the student's educational plan, therapeutic goals and/or feeding or intervention plans.
Collaborates with administrators, teachers and other related service providers within the school setting to ensure that a comprehensive educational plan is in place to meet each students' individual needs.
May provide coverage as a substitute teacher for school-related activities and/or lessons, as needed.
May monitor and screen hearing status and make referrals, as needed.
May assist with documenting medical necessity for AAC devices and work with providers or parents to facilitate authorizations, as needed.
Performs all other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
including education, experience, licensure/certification, etc. and essential physical capabilities (e.g. lifting, assisting lifting, standing, etc.)
Valid license and current registration as a Speech Language Pathologist issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED); and
Current certification and registration as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) or Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD), issued by the New York State Education Department; and
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong writing and organizations skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs, specifically Word and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualification Requirements

Additional duties include providing clinical supervision in their areas of expertise, advising both undergraduate and graduate students, supporting student research, and contributing to our vibrant on-campus clinical program. Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is seeking a full-time, 12-month educator track faculty member to support a new clinical doctorate program in speech-language pathology (SLP-D). This 12-month position will begin in Fall 2026 with rank (Assistant or Associate professor) commensurate with experience.
Essential Functions
* This position will contribute to the teaching, scholarship, and service missions of the department and college, largely supporting the teaching and clinically based research endeavors of SLP-D students along with regular teaching responsibilities within our department.
* Teaching courses in the SLP-D program and mentorship of SLP-D student culminating projects will be a primary role for this position.
* Additional responsibilities will include engaging in relevant scholarly activity and providing service to the CSD Department and the College of Allied Health Sciences.
* This is an in-person teaching position with the potential for a hybrid format in the future.
Minimum Requirements
* Doctoral degree (PhD or SLPD) in speech-language pathology or a related field; ABD candidates are welcome to apply but must have degree completed prior to August 2026
* Experience teaching in a higher education setting, with at least one year (or several part time experiences to equal one-year) of experience
* Demonstrated student mentorship experience with graduate students
* Demonstrated expertise in one or more area(s) of specialization in speech-language pathology

SUMMARY
The Speech and Language Pathologist prevents, assesses, diagnoses, and treats speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults. The Pathologist also ensures educational relevance of eligibility and goal selection, provides contributions to curriculum, contributes to the language and literacy in the classrooms for qualified and at-risk students, and provides culturally competent services.
