Individual pay will be set in accordance with terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement._ **Responsibilities:** Exercising courtesy in contacts with patients, customers and department staff, sets up, serves and cleans up food service area; prepares orders, such as soda fountain dishes, desserts, etc., as directed. Maintains prescribed standards of sanitation, housekeeping and safety in assigned work area. SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED:None.MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:Dishwashers; stove; microwave oven; grill; toaster; hot and cold counters; soda fountain; coffee urn, hot chocolate, iced tea, cream and juice dispensers; juice capper; food transporters and carts; cash register; and related equipment. TYPICAL DUTIES:1.Sets up food for serving, serves food according to prescribed manner, cleans utensils and equipment before, during and after serving. Checks completed tray before delivery to patients. 2.Performs limited food preparation or final processing of simple salads, desserts, vegetables, etc., by cutting up items of food, dishing out portions, wrapping, labeling and rotating food.3.Sets up, maintains and cleans beverage containers including coffee, iced tea, hot chocolate, cream, juice and ice dispensers, and related equipment. Sets up condiment areas, salad, dessert and hot food counters; maintains adequate supply; and keeps area clean. Stores condiments and left-overs in a sanitary manner. 4.Checks need for replacement of deleted or shortage of items and notifies proper personnel. 5.Washes and sanitizes dining room tables and chairs cleans ash trays and maintains adequate supply of salt and pepper shakers. Sets up patient trays. Pulls and/or pushes food transporters as necessary in assigned work area. 6.Maintains proper housekeeping, sanitation and safety standards in work area, including washing of table service implements, serving and preparation utensils, and food transporters. Reports defective equipment to the immediate supervisor. May occasionally act as fill-in cashier, handling cash and making change. May perform other food service duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to read and write English, and to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Sets up patient trays.
