Roles & Responsibilities
Realize Client Objectives. The A/V Sales Engineer reviews the prospect's needs and wants for the product/services offered and works with the Senior Sales Engineer, System Engineers and the Sales team to develop the right solution.
Gathers relevant site details in order to create the scope of work including equipment and labor estimate.
Review and interpret project bid specifications.
Conduct site-walks with team.
Support the Company Growth. The A/V Sales Engineer provides accurate and timely project estimates/quotes to the sales team that support the detailed scopes of work outlined in Sales Proposals, RFIs, RFPs etc.
Review & edit detailed scopes of work & product details in Sales Proposals
Respond to requests for proposals (RFPs)
Create requests for information (RFIs)
Review product estimate and system design with sales department and other key internal resources.
Increase Profit Margin. The Estimator levels vendor quotes and negotiates costs to increase profit margins, as well as identifies missing components in the scope of work to avoid additional project costs and reduced margins after the project is sold.
Documenting equipment needed and labor time required for each project
Gather information to determine proper system components from internal and vendor resources
Build vendor relationships and negotiate quotes.
Exceed Client Expectations. The A/V Sales Engineer assists with the management of the quote calendar and prioritize accordingly to ensure that the sales team can meet RFP deadlines.

We are seeking an electrical Estimator for our Substation Services division who is with Director of Operations who is responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, quotes, and other documentation to prepare an all-inclusive quality and accurate bid submission.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating Execution & Bid Preparation

Review all contract documents to understand requirements, risks, and pricing impacts; Perform material take-off; Obtain vendor and subcontractor quotes and evaluate for completeness and best price; Participate in the estimate review process with internal and external stakeholders; and Prepare and/or provide input for customer deliverables (schedule, proposal letter, etc.).
Bid Administration & Documentation Management

Work with Estimating Project Administrator to upload project documents for vendors/subcontractors and to submit RFIs for estimating questions by deadline; Distribute qualification documents as required for the bid; Prepare award documents for review to be submitted by deadline; and Assure complete and thorough pre-construction planning and distribution of all documents per project delivery process.
Contract & Scope Review

Review purchase orders, subcontracts, and contracts for accuracy; Identify areas of importance (milestones, liquidated damages, etc.) and relay to project management (PM) team; Identify possible change orders; and Facilitate a scope review with PM team to align estimate assumptions with project execution.
Project Handoff & Collaboration
- Assist construction personnel at project startup to communicate basis and approach of cost estimate; Attend pre-construction/project meetings; and Relay project insights to PM team.
Who We're Looking For
An acceptable combination of education and/or work experience within the Electric Utility industry (Electric Utility preferred) with Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar preferred.
Five years or more related experience in Electric construction industry performing cost estimates and estimating knowledge of electrical industry.
An acceptable combination of education and work experience, validating estimating skill level.
Proficient in MS Office applications and Accubid Estimating Software
Knowledge of Microsoft Projects and/or Primavera a plus
Local to Pennsylvania (preferable) but with occasional travel to other offices, customer facilities, jobsites and yard locations for offsite meetings (flexibility to work from home when appropriate).

Plan, execute, monitor, control, and close out the project.
Schedule and manage job kick off meetings, disseminate all required info (MTO, Drawings, SPECS, etc.) (to be provided by Estimating)
Start and maintain job file on all projects to include completed work order/traveler, specifications provided by customer, special instructions given by customer, delivery tickets for free issue items, welding procedures, weld maps, all material requisitions, purchase orders, material traceability documents, non-destructive testing reports, hydro test reports and charts, paint specs with daily paint reports, loadout manifests and any other pertinent information related to the project.
In cases where estimating creates material order during bid phase or Project Coordinator creates a material order, confirms accuracy of the material order prior to release.
Ensure that all for all purchases a Purchase Order number has been obtained and that vendors place said PO number on all invoices along with BBI Job number
Maintain communication with customer (or customer's representative) and provide information regarding changes in delivery or project revisions to Project Coordinator (when used), and Project Superintendent
