Van Lang University company history timeline
Van Lang University (VLU), founded on January 27, 1995, is known as one of the very first private higher education institutions in Southern Vietnam.
On 17th, September, 1995, 4,569 students officially became the centerpieces of Van Lang University's first opening ceremony at the National Academy of Public Administration.
On 16th, November, 1995, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Van Lang University was established.
In February, 1996, the Labor Confederation of Ho Chi Minh City recognized the Provisional Trade Union Executive Committee of Van Lang University with 5 people.
In April, 1997, Van Lang University Party Committee was established with 6 members.
On 7th, September, 1998, the Prime Minister signed Decision No.
In September, 1999, the 5th Opening Ceremony and the 1st Graduation Ceremony for 103 graduates were held at Hoa Binh Theater, Ho Chi Minh City.
On 12th, February, 2000 Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union signed the decision to upgrade Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Van Lang University to district level.
In October, 2000, Van Lang’s Party Organization was reorganized into Party Committee with 37 students devided into 3 groups.
On 19th, January, 2002, Students’ Association of Van Lang University was officially established, introducing The Provisional Executive Committee of the Students’ Association.
On 11th April, 2002, Campus 2 began to be built.
It is the office of economics and fine arts major and also a place for most of Van Lang’s Events. • On 11th, October, 2003, the 9th Opening Ceremony was officially held at Hall C001, Campus 2. • The 5th Graduation Ceremony was the first time one to be solemnly held in Hall C001, Campus 2.
On 22nd, April 2005, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem attended the 6th Graduation Ceremony of Construction Major.
Since 2005, the Opening Ceremony of Van Lang has been change into the special festival for New students at campus 2.
In July, 2006, the 8th Graduation Ceremony was held at Campus 2.
In July, 2007, the 9th Graduation Ceremony was held at Campus 2.
On 1st, May, 2008, Van Lang University and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU, USA) signed a cooperation contract to develop Software Engineering under the CMU program.
On 20th, July, 2008, the 10th Graduation Ceremony was held at Campus 2.
In 2008, the Van Lang Family Fund was established.
In July, 2009, the 11th Graduation Ceremony was held at Hall C001 - Campus 2.
On 11th January, 2010, the Ministry of Education and Training signed Decision No.
On 23rd & 24th, April, 2011, Van Lang University hosted the first city chess tournament, gathering 183 players from 21 universities and colleges in the area.
On 19th February, 2012, the first labor agreement was signed between the representative of school and employee.
On 14th October, 2015, Van Lang University changed its form to private according to Decision No.
On 24th February 2017, Van Lang University organized Ground Breaking Ceremony of Campus 3 at Ward 5, Go Vap District.
In 2017, Van Lang University continued the 2nd quality accreditation.

On 31st May 2018, Van Lang University received the certificate of accreditation for National higher education institutions with the ratio of 80.33%. On 31st May 2018, Van Lang launched a new brand identity system.
In August 2019, VanLang Presidential Forum 2019 was held for the first time with the theme THINK BIG – ACT SMALL: arouse the generation of leaders.
In September 2019, Van Lang University expanded cooperation with more than 100 partners in 5 regions (Asia, Europe, Northern Europe, America and Australia), including 20 countries around the world.
On October 7th, 2019, Van Lang University collaborated with Uni-Italia Vietnam to organize the 2nd VIETNAM-ITALIA HIGHER EDUCATION FORUM under the chair of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, Ambassador Italy and the Italian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City.
On April 1st, 2020, Van Lang University announced a co-sponsor of the 2,000 MV20 ventilator project for the Government of Vietnam to support in fighting the Covid 19 pandemic.
On November 21st, 2020, Van Lang University held the 25th Anniversary Celebration & Received the Third - class Labor Medal.
On November 26th, 2020, Van Lang University obtained the the certificate of accreditation for National Higher education for 03 undergraduate training programs: Accounting, English Linguistics and Hospitality Management.
In March 2021, Van Lang Group announced to receive the entire Football Training Center - PVF from Vingroup.
On April 10th, 2021, Van Lang University inaugurated the Olympic swimming pool at the main campus (69/68 Dang Thuy Tram, Ward 13, Binh Thanh District, HCMC).
On April 14th, 2021, Van Lang University held the inauguration ceremony of the practice area of Faculty of Dentistry to officially launch the system of facilities for the training dentistry in Vietnam.
