Job Description The Fiber Optic Splicer Technician position installs and maintains fiber optic cables as well as provides technical assistance in the design and testing of fiber optics. Responsible for ensuring the integrity and efficiency of our network systems through expertise in splicing techniques and equipment repair. Duties & Responsibilities Splice single mode and ribbon fiber Fusion splice and terminate various types of fiber optic connectors Interpret as-builts and splicing matrices Installation and dressing of fiber optic cabling Perform uni-directional, bi-directional, and power meter testing (OLTS) Troubleshoot fiber optic links and certify fiber optic links Respond to emergency situations to restore service outages Report splicing matrix. Strong understanding and ability to read prints and diagrams associated with splicing. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) & the ability to interact professionally with customers. Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record. Valid DOT Medical Card. Ability to work under pressure and in a fast paced and quickly changing environment. Ability & Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed. This position will require being able to respond to afterhours fiber outages. Ability to work and climb up to 35 feet. Ability to maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word). Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
