Basic/Brief Description: Will organize, prepare, and supply various food items pertaining to the salad bars, cold and hot food stations, and to-order serve in one of the Residential Dining Halls; assists cooks by combining ingredients, portioning, and serving from prepared to-order maintains proper food handling and storage techniques to eliminate waste and spoilage; will work within a diverse work force; directly with the customers. Typical Duties May Include: Position is in a venue in Landon Hall Use proper preparation and culinary techniques to prepare food required; including chopping, cutting, slicing, thawing, marinating and sautéing. Use proper knife skills required of menu and special orders to cut, chop, slice and julienne. Properly operate and sanitize all kitchen equipment. Use culinary knowledge of proper garnishing and plate presentations to create unique customer experience. Interact and improvise dishes directly with customers often in theatrical style. Set up serving stations and assembles and presents finished product to customers. Control food production to ensure freshly cooked products. Weigh, measure and use standard as well as creative techniques to assemble and prepare ingredients. Responsible for the proper handling, holding and storage of foods. Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe working environment. Use good sanitation and safety practices. Participate and assist with dining facility cleaning and other assigned duties during periods generally considered academic breaks. All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.

Required Qualifications
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. One year of full time experience in food preparation and use of kitchen equipment. Knowledge of kitchen safety practices. Ability to read weights and measures and the ability to weigh and measure ingredients. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions. Knowledge of various methods of food preparation including sautéing, display cooking, deep frying, grilling and steaming etc. Ability to properly use knives and standard kitchen equipment. Ability and skill to prepare items utilizing proper methods and production timing to assure freshly cooked products are ready for continuous service. Occasional lifting of 26 to 75 pounds.

Responsible for opening and/or closing the library.
Maintains a digital record of hours worked by, and money paid to, student assistants.
Approves biweekly student assistant timesheets digitally and/or in print.
Maintains student assistant personnel files in a secured location.
Maintains the Supervisor of Student Assistants Operations Manual in print and digitally.
Maintains the Brightspace student assistant training site.
Creates announcement for student assistant positions and submits to the Student Employment Office.
Interviews prospective student employees and submits the hiring proposal to the Student Employment Office.
Schedules students and trains them in Public Services duties.
Evaluates student assistant's performance informally on a regular basis and formally on a yearly basis.
Assesses potential student assistant issues and handles accordingly in consultation with the Public Services Librarian.
Serves as the staff advisor to the Student Library Advisory Board (SLAB) assisting members with planning and implementing events.
Updates voice mail announcements at the Public Services desk according to the library's operating schedule, as needed.
Checks Public Services phone voicemail daily and refers call to appropriate library staff, or returns patron's call, as needed.
Performs all desk services including but not limited to checking materials in/out, preparing books for shelving, answering the Public Services Desk telephone, troubleshooting problems with equipment.
Assigns tasks to student assistants and directs them in these tasks.
Assists patrons with title/author searches; locates materials on the shelves for patrons; refers patrons to the reference librarian, as needed.
Follows up on Item/Patron transactions that require additional attention.
Processes library room reservations through the University's Event Management System (EMS) and prints daily event and room schedules, as needed.
Assists with the organization of the Public Services desk to facilitate efficient service, including replenishing supplies and forms and notifying the library director when items need to be re-ordered.
Checks and processes Call Slip reports multiple times per day.
Processes lost/withdrawn books.
Assists with setting up furniture arrangements to achieve the requirements of an event/meeting held in the library. Returns furniture to the original arrangement following the event.
Contributes to the library's social media accounts.
Collects data for surveys and reports.
Performs other duties as assigned.

The Building Attendant independently performs duties related to the housekeeping operations of the College. Performs routine and non-routine duties, participates in set-up and breakdown for special events and moves furniture. The Building Attendant is expected to safely use and maintain all related cleaning equipment and perform a variety of tasks requiring physical dexterity, safe work practices, and a knowledge of cleaning chemicals, methods, procedures, supplies and equipment. Maintain facilities in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clean offices, classrooms, science facilities, lecture halls, athletic facilities, rest rooms and residential quarters; performs periodic and annual cleaning services/duties.
Clean toilets, urinals, windows, furnishings, and light fixtures; changes light bulbs, sweeps, and vacuums. Dusts and polishes a variety of surfaces and washes walls. Cleans and disinfects a variety of surfaces. Cleans writing surfaces and erasers.
Scrub and refinishes floors and carpets; refinishes hard, resilient, and wood floors; operates mechanical floor cleaners, polishers, and carpet cleaning equipment.
Dispose of trash and other debris.
Remove graffiti.
Perform furniture set-up and breakdown for meetings and special events; moves furniture, such as desks, chairs, mattresses, and other furniture.
Services dispensing machines; activates and deactivates electronic alarm systems, secures facilities.
Request's cleaning supplies and materials. Maintains well-stocked and organized supply closets and carts. May perform minor repairs, including minor plumbing, mechanical or electrical repairs, which may include replacing washers in simple basin faucets, replace light bulbs, or tighten window or door hinges, knobs, locks.
Participate in emergency response activities.
Respond to emergency situations, including turning off water and gas and other appropriate actions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
