Since the program’s inception in 2001, the WMHS Foundation has awarded over $1,022,000 in scholarships, supporting over 150 local students pursuing healthcare careers.
Since 2005, the WMHS Foundation has raised over $20 million to support the work, mission, and values of Western Maryland Health System.
In 2006, the Foundation launched this once-in-a-lifetime campaign to help build a new regional medical center.
By 2007, the Foundation surpassed the stretch goal of $7 million and optimistically raised the target by nearly half, setting a new goal of $10 million.
When the hospital opened in 2009, the Foundation had exceeded that goal as well, raising nearly $11,000,000.
In 2013, the $4,000,000 Ted Wolfe Trust was finalized, making the WMHS Foundation the administrator of this significant funding stream for medical care and educational needs for Allegany County residents.
In 2013, the Schwab Family Cancer Center expanded to allow patients to receive clinical consultation, testing, and treatments in one convenient location.
On July 14, 2016, the WMHS Auxiliary made a $150,000 pledge to the Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Surgery (RALS) program at Western Maryland Health System–the first pledge in support of the WMHS Foundation commitment of $1.25 million toward the program.
