From its humble beginnings in 1964 as a traditional furniture store in Windhoek, Namibia, Weylandts has grown into South Africa’s leading furniture and homeware retailer with 12 stores nationwide.
In 1992, Chris and his older brother, Thomas, buys a small manufacturing plant in Okahandja, Namibia and expands the plant to provide stock for the Windhoek shop.
In 1996, Chris sets up a plant in Cape Town — developing and manufacturing a complete new range for furniture.
In 1999, the first Weylandts Homestore opens in Durbanville, Cape Town.
The Knysna store opens in an old boatshed on the trendy new Thesen Island in 2002.
