In 1834, inventor Joseph Morgan helped to further the modern-day candle industry by developing a machine that allowed for continuous production of molded candles by using a cylinder with a movable piston to eject candles as they solidified.
With the introduction of the light bulb in 1879, candlemaking began to decline.
They realized they had found a successful niche, and the business was incorporated by 1908.
Milton I. Wick founded Wick Communications with his brother James in 1926, when he became owner and publisher of the Niles Daily Times in Niles, Ohio.
He turned to the publishing business in 1926, when he bought the Niles Daily Times.
James was a partner in every newspaper enterprise until his death in 1965, when Milton and his sons purchased his interests.

In 1986, the Voyager aircraft, designed by Burt and flown by Dick along with Jeana Yeager, became famous as the first plane to fly around the world without stopping or refueling.
He was inducted into the Arizona Newspapers Association Hall of Fame in 1996.
The aircraft company’s sales were greatly impacted by increased fuel prices and the declining economy in 2008.
He became CEO of Wick Communications in 2016.
