Job Summary
We're seeking a Part-Time Utilization Review Nurse to conduct medical necessity reviews for treatment requests related to workers' compensation claims. This role is fully remote (Nevada-based) and ideal for a nurse who thrives in a structured, detail-driven environment and enjoys applying clinical judgment to ensure quality, appropriate care.
You will review provider-submitted treatment requests, apply evidence-based guidelines, and issue determinations in accordance with Nevada's utilization review standards.
Responsibilities
Utilization Review concerns the quality of care provided to injured employees, including whether the service is appropriate and effective and the quality of treatment. Appropriate service is health care service that is medically necessary and reasonable, and based on objective, clinical findings.
Pursuant to the NAC 616C.123 (1), the criteria or guidelines used in the UR Plan, are consistent with the ACOEM Practice guidelines adopted as standards for the provision of accident benefits to employees who have suffered industrial injuries or occupational diseases.

The Medical Disability Guidelines
NCM/UR shall use the Guidelines as minimum standards for evaluating and ensuring the quality of programs of treatment provided the injured employee who is entitled to accident benefits.
Reports the diagnosis, ICD 9 code, medical appropriateness of the service, pertinent physical findings, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, concurrent problems, follow‑up care and the injured employee's functional limitations.
Authorize a determination based on the health care service request reviewed; based on the information provided, meets or does not meet the clinical requirements for medical necessity and reasonableness of said service in accordance with appropriate medical guidelines.
The UR reviewer will process requests in accordance with the timelines specified in Nevada Revised Statute and Nevada Administrative Code.
Qualifications Qualifications (Required)
Active, unrestricted Nevada nursing license (RN).
Nursing degree (Associate's or Bachelor's).
Prior Utilization Review experience.
Strong clinical background; ability to evaluate complex medical information.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail with the ability to shift priorities as needed.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
Nice to Have
Experience in trauma, orthopedics, occupational medicine, rehab therapy, med-surg, or workers' compensation.
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) communications skills - This role may involve communicating with injured workers, employers, or vendors where Spanish-language skills are beneficial but not required.

Only a small handful of companies offer these products and we partner with most of them. This puts us in a uniquely competitive position and affords our agents the ability to close deals with ease. • The average advanced commission an agent receives on one sale is $500. Total commissions per sale averages at $700. • Compensation comes directly from the insurance carriers as a direct deposit to your bank account. • This is a 1099 position.
Training: • All new agents are trained by Ty Sanders in conjunction with Matthew Weiner. Matthew previously worked at Wal-Mart vision center making less than $50,000 per year and had no experience in sales or insurance when joining the team in February 2017. In 2018 Matthew earned well over $100,000 in his first full year nearly tripling his annual income. In 2019 he ended the year with $187,000 in income. And for the year 2020, he earned $272,000.

Ignition, National Interstate's Graduate Development Program, is a month-long cohort that equips recent graduates with a comprehensive understanding of our business through a blend of instructor-led, self-paced, and hands-on training. Participants gain a strong understanding of our business model, value proposition, and how individual roles impact the organization while becoming immersed in our company culture. Through expert-led sessions, this program explores cross-functional areas, develops key professional skills, and strengthens relationships through team-building and social activities.
The program is taking place in June 2026. The role will be expected to work in the Richfield, Ohio office.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Develops skill and knowledge in conducting market research and networking to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
Learns to create and execute marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital, print, and social media.
Participates in engaging with existing and prospective new customers to build relationships to achieve the division's targeted profit goals.
Assists in creating compelling marketing content, including blog posts, social media updates, newsletters, and promotional materials.

Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field or equivalent experience.
Scope of Job/Qualifications: Typically participates in a formal training program for 6 months to a year. Performs work under close supervision and technical direction. Developing understanding of marketing principles and practices. Works on assignments of low technical complexity. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Gaining proficiency in marketing software and tools, such as CRM systems, email marketing platforms, and social media management tools. Demonstrates foundational analytical skills and attention to detail. Position may require day and overnight travel (10-20%) to visit agents, brokers, or clients. Position may learn to prospect and solicit new agents or clients; typically, has no or limited underwriting authority. Uses communication skills to build excellent customer relationships and to provide opportunities for marketing products and services.
