Windsor Vineyards company history timeline

1959

Founded by wine legend Rodney Strong in 1959, on San Francisco Bay in Tiburon, his philosophy has continued throughout the years to present.

1962

Originally called Tiburon Vinters, in 1962 Strong relocated the winery to Windsor and renamed it to Windsor Vineyards.

1972

In 1972, the ownershipship changed hands, grapevine were replanted, and winemaking begun under the Balverne label.

1989

The winery was eventually sold to the Klein winemaking family in 1989.

1991

In 1991, the property was purchased by its current owner, Bob Stein, who renamed the property Windsor Oaks Vineyards.* The property is successfully managed as Vineyards, selling fruit in recent years to over 35 highly-regarded wineries throughout the states.

2000

The winery changed hands again in 2000 when it was purchased by Australian wine unit Mildura Blass, who added Windsor to its family of international wine holdings under the umbrella of Beringer Blass Wine Estates.

2005

Winemaking resumed on the property in 2005 under the Windsor Oaks Winery brand.

2017

In 2017, the Notre Vue Estate Winery and Vineyards were created, adding another higher level of wine, service, and experience.
