WSA company history timeline

1908

In Denver, Colorado in October of 1908, Secretary of State Timothy O'Connor signed the original charter for The Zapadna Slovanska Zveza (Western Slavonic Association).

1919

Struck by the nobility and originality of Rudolf Steiner, the father and founder of Waldorf Education in 1919, Katie began to research his lectures and share her discoveries in adult study groups in Atlanta.

1958

In 1958 membership in WSA was opened to all nationalities, all races, all families.

1966

The Siretta 339 was first device worn entirely in-the-ear (ITE) from 1966.

1978

WSA was founded in 1978 and is the oldest and largest youth sports organization in Wilton.

1980

In 1980, Katie Reily, a speech therapist and educator, attended a eurythmy performance by a traveling troupe from Stuttgart.

1985

By mid-1985, under the leadership of its first Commodore Shelli Dickenson, WSA met on a regular basis at various yacht clubs and member’s homes, boasted about 40 members, and published an excellent newsletter, “Gal’ Warnings,” whose first editor was Gail Hine of Sailing Convention for Women fame.

In 1985, several women sailors met to found a new organization, the Women’s Sailing Association of Santa Monica Bay.

1986

An Association newsletter was first published in 1986, esteemed Waldorf lecturers were sponsored, and various workshops were offered.

1987

As of October 1987, the Association boasted fifty members.

1989

In 1989 our corporate name changed to WSA Fraternal Life, but our focus remained constant.

1995

A first meeting of potential members was held in August 1995 in the Hotel Pfefferhöhe, Germany.

When in 1995 some National Sleddog Organizations in Europe did not agree with direction the FISTC was going, a decision was made to create a new International Organization for the sport with purebred sleddogs according to F.C.I. standards.

1996

The merger was completed in January 1996.

1997

Already in 1997 the WSA approached the IFSS to become an IFSS member.

In 1997, Sivantos developed the world’s first completely digital hearing aid with two microphones, called Prisma.

1998

After a meeting between the IFSS representatives and Bernd Keusemann at the Paris Orly Airport, the WSA became in 1998 an associated member of the IFSS and holds this membership status as of today.

1999

In 1999 WSA held its first race marshal training seminar.

2000

Zach has worked at a high-level as an executive since October 2000 — twenty years as a workforce science executive.

In 2000 in Nesselwängle, Austria where the European mushers gave up the 6-dog Siberian title to our Canadian musher friend.

2004

Later, Acuris, the world’s first hearing aid in which right and left devices were synchronized, was launched in 2004.

2007

In the General Assembly of 2007 Bernd Keusemann resigned from the position as Chairman and Jane Nordloff from Sweden became the new WSA Chairman.

2012

Before Kenexa was acquired by IBM in 2012, it had quickly become, by far, the largest provider of employee research.

2016

Zach has worked as a founding principal of Workforce Science Associates since October 2016.

2018

Finally, and most recently in 2018, Sivantos introduced the Signia Styletto, the world’s first SLIM-RIC hearwear, combining style with high-tech hearing while Widex came out with Evoke, the world’s first hearing aid with machine learning.

2019

Waldorf Education celebrated it's 100-year worldwide anniversary in 2019, and WSA has over three decades of expanding the worldwide movement of Waldorf education in Atlanta.
