As part of our Recreation Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of camp participants in all camp related activities. Generally, your schedule will be 40 hours per week Monday Friday during the Summer Camp Season beginning in May. As a Day Camp Counselor, your duties and responsibilities will include: Supervising campers, ensuring their safety at all times. Disciplining children as needed. Communicating with parents. Maintaining accurate attendance records. Attending mandatory weekly staff meetings and required training. Administering first aid as needed. This position is responsible for supervising children in grades kindergarten through 5th grade at eight local elementary schools. Responsibilities include homework assistance, helping with crafts, and supervising recreational games and activities. The working season for this position is mid-August through May. Under the direction and supervision of the Day Camp Site Director and Youth Recreation Supervisor, the Day Camp Counselor is responsible for the direct supervision of program participants and the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities. Counselors are expected to lead children in a variety of recreation activities and to provide a safe and enjoyable experience to all participants. The Counselor II is a valuable member of our Crisis Care/Respite Program. Since 1983, the Crisis Care Program has provided a 24/7 crisis line and an 8-bed, voluntary, inpatient, 24/7 respite stabilization program for clients in crisis.
