Yehudi “Gaf” Gaffen takes a vested interest in delivering complex projects that power vibrant communities. He has more than 35 years of construction and program management experience and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management (1975) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He worked as a project manager on large retail projects in Cape Town before immigrating to San Diego in 1979, to pursue a career in construction and real estate development. In 1987, Gaf and his wife founded Gafcon, Inc. Under his leadership as CEO, Gafcon has grown into a globally respected program and construction management consulting firm. Gafcon has been responsible for the success of hundreds of projects, including high profile projects such as: the $5.5 billion Zizhu Purple Bay residential community, an 800-acre megaproject in Shanghai; AltaSea, a $135 million adaptive reuse at the Port of Los Angeles; the $100 million redevelopment of the Los Angeles Forum; the City of San Diego North Embarcadero Visionary Plan; the Port of Los Angeles Waterfront and Promenade; and $46.25 billion in education bond programs throughout San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles. In 2016, the Unified Port of San Diego awarded the $1.2B redevelopment of Seaport Village to Protea Waterfront Development with Gaf as the active Managing Partner.
