Twitter was created on March 21, 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams.
Launched in 2006, Twitter lets its users express themselves in short messages, tweets, of 140 characters or less.
It filed to go public in 2007 when it had about 50 million users, but withdrew the IPO that December, citing ``market conditions.'' Classmates.com still exists today, but is overshadowed by Facebook.
