AAAE company history timeline

1928

AAAE was founded in September 1928 when 10 airport directors met at the National Air Races at Mines Field in Los Angeles.

1947

Originally founded in 1947 as the California Association of Airport Executives (CAAE), the Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (SWAAAE) has always been committed to promoting and protecting aviation.

1971

In 1971, the CAAE was invited by the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) to become a regional chapter affiliate.

1978

Shortly thereafter, in 1978, the CAAE became SWAAAE and included the states of California, Arizona and Nevada.

2008

2008 Near New/Near new, 82 pages.

2013

In 2013, Todd Hauptli was elected as the third full-time leader of the organization.

2019

Tory Richardson, A.A.E., CEO of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, is AAAE's Chair for 2019–20.
