What you'll be doing:
Conduct portable fire extinguisher and emergency/exit lighting inspection, service, repair, and maintenance
Train team members in various portable fire extinguisher and emergency/exit Lighting service and inspection related tasks
Provide portable fire extinguisher and emergency/exit lighting technical support.
Assist team members performing monthly and annual inspections on portable fire extinguishers and emergency/exit lighting to maintain compliance with NFPA 10 code when and where required.

Provide fire services inspection software training to team members.
Qualifications

High school and/or GED equivalent is required.
Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Valid driver's license and safe driving record is required
Must have an NFPA Extinguisher Certification/License
Experienced performing monthly and annual inspections on portable fire extinguishers to maintain compliance with NFPA 10 code.
Fire Extinguisher License or certification as required by state, county, and/or city.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

What you'll need
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Conducts orientation activities such as completing and checking paperwork on new hires, validating required experience and licensure, and collecting I-9 documentation
Investigate incidents, injuries, damage to property, or other safety-related concerns.
Completes incident reports, OSHA-required documentation, and other client reports.
Critically assesses and evaluates hazards and takes corrective actions at the moment.
Documents findings, including Root Cause Analysis
Communicate with leadership and field personnel the investigation findings and recommendations for how to prevent reoccurrences.
Verifies corrective measures have been completed (including recommendations of the safety committee, leaders, and those that arise from the suggestion programs)

Department: Office Reports To: Transportation Manager The Safety & Training Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs and driver training initiatives to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role supports driver onboarding, conducts safety evaluations, coordinates ongoing training, and promotes a strong safety culture throughout the organization. The coordinator will work closely with drivers, dispatch, maintenance, and leadership to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Compliance & Administration
* Maintain and update safety policies in accordance with FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and company standards.
* Manage driver qualification files (DQFs), including medical cards, MVRs, certifications, and required documentation.
* Perform regular audits of safety records and logs, ensuring HOS (Hours of Service) compliance.
* Coordinate incident reporting, accident investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
* Track and report safety metrics to management.
Training & Development
* Develop and conduct new driver orientation programs.
* Deliver ongoing safety training (e.g., defensive driving, load securement, hazardous materials awareness, PPE).
* Maintain training records and ensure all drivers meet regulatory and internal training requirements.
* Provide remedial training for drivers involved in accidents, violations, or performance concerns.
* Coordinate third-party training programs or certifications as needed.
Field & Operational Support
* Conduct yard and field inspections, including pre-trip/post-trip checks, equipment inspections, and operational observations.
* Support the implementation of safety technologies (ELDs, dash cams, telematics).
* Collaborate with dispatch and maintenance to proactively address safety issues.
* Participate in audits, safety meetings, and company-wide safety initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* 2+ years of experience in transportation safety, trucking operations, or driver training.
* Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Proficiency with office software (Word, Excel, safety management systems).
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred
* CDL Class A or prior commercial driving experience.
* Safety certifications (e.g., NATMI, Smith System, OSHA training).
* Experience with ELD and telematics systems.
