The Department:
You will join a nationally accredited agency (one of only five agencies in the State of California) by the Commission for the Accreditation of Parks & Recreation Agencies (CAPRA); a team dedicated to upholding the department's mission to promote community health and wellness while building a diverse culture that embraces change and continuous improvement.
Position:
The Aquatics Instructor is a part-time year-round position. Under the supervision of the Aquatic Supervisor and/or Recreation Supervisor, the person in this position will organize, lead and teach specialized aquatic activities and do related work as required.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct American Red Cross swimming lessons ranging from Parent/Child Aquatics to Learn to Swim Level Six
Promote participation, provide information on available programs and enforce required safety rules and regulations
Rescue persons in distress and render first aid
Assist in conducting special events and maintenance and operation of aquatic facilities
Qualifications
Possess current certificates in the following:
Must possess a current certificate in American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
Three months of experience as a swim instructor is preferred
Knowledge of:
Principles and techniques of teaching swim lessons to all ages
Knowledge of lifeguarding techniques, first aid, and other aquatic instruction
Must possess a current certificate in American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
Ability to:
Interact and be patient and professional with the public
Ability to follow class guidelines and exercises, enforce required safety rules and regulations
Serve as an ambassador to the Parks & Recreation Department, as well as the City of Carlsbad

About the Real Estate Program
The Real Estate program at USD was established in the early 1990s and has since evolved into a dynamic and highly regarded program. We offer a Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) degree, along with both a major and a minor in real estate at the undergraduate level. Graduate students also have the option to pursue dual degrees, including the MBA/MSRE and JD/MSRE. With over 400 undergraduate majors and minors, real estate is the second most popular field of study at USD.

The University of San Diego's Knauss School of Business seeks a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to join its dynamic and growing Real Estate program. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in commercial real estate, including areas such as finance and investment, market analysis, asset management, development, capital markets, and sustainability.

GEO 102 Course Description:
Introduction to the form and content of communication. Includes: the linguistic, psychological, and cultural bases of communication; various types of communication ranging from basic speech acts to forms of persuasion; the social and political significance of communication; and how communication operates within and across a wide range of social contexts. Students become actively acquainted with some of the potential proficiencies that may be brought into various social contexts. Requires active participation in classroom exercises and practicing public speaking.

About the Real Estate Program
The Real Estate program at USD was established in the early 1990s and has since evolved into a dynamic and highly regarded program. We offer a Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) degree, along with both a major and a minor in real estate at the undergraduate level. Our program currently enrolls approximately 60 graduate students and over 400 undergraduate students (including majors and minors). Real Estate is the third most popular major at USD.
The program is supported by the Burham-Moores Center for Real Estate (BMC), a center of excellence fully funded by the real estate industry. Professionals who connect academic and practical work also play a role. Other examples include op-eds, public lectures, exhibitions, performances, and social media. Ethical public scholarship focuses on working with community organizations, tribal nations, and other groups as partners, not just as research subjects.

As part of San Diego State University's (SDSU) Strategic Plan and the goal of leveraging our university's unique identity, SDSU aims to hire an Associate/Full Professor to join a diverse cohort of colleagues from a broad range of disciplines and a variety of academic and research backgrounds addressing borders, broadly defined both geographically and conceptually. The successful candidate must clearly demonstrate how their research, scholarship, or creative activities are collaborative or interdisciplinary and engage with borders as understood in their disciplines. We welcome applications from scholars in any discipline whose work addresses any of a myriad of border issues as understood in their fields and not just limited to nation state borders. Successful applicants will teach interdisciplinary courses, conduct research, and generate publications in their own disciplinary journals as well as engage in public-facing scholarship, which may include other public venues including but not limited to theater, film or other artistic venues. Candidates will be given the opportunity to request their home department and will be expected to teach both lower level and upper level undergraduate courses, and graduate level courses where appropriate, as well as courses they develop within their area of expertise. We seek a scholar who has demonstrated experience with community engagement or is committed to developing community-based projects.
Understanding Public-Facing Scholarship
Public-facing scholarship takes many forms depending on the academic field. Academics share their work outside traditional settings through podcasts, popular books, K-12 curricula, media interviews, educational websites, art, film, and public writing. Professionals who connect academic and practical work also play a role. Other examples include op-eds, public lectures, exhibitions, performances, and social media. Ethical public scholarship focuses on working with community organizations, tribal nations, and other groups as partners, not just as research subjects.

Required qualifications by date of application
Doctoral or other equivalent terminal degree (e.g., PhD, DSc, DAud, EdD, MFA)
A record of original research / scholarly / creative accomplishments and demonstrated capacity to a) develop a vigorous and independent program of research / scholarship / creative activity, b) teach graduate and undergraduate courses; and c) engage in both campus and professional service activities.
Demonstration of past accomplishments and/or future plans in at least two (2) or more of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria.
Required qualifications by date of hire
Demonstrated record of intersectional and interdisciplinary scholarship addressing issues relevant to border regions.
Experience producing public-facing scholarship.
Established record of scholarly publications or clear evidence of research productivity commensurate with the rank of the position.
Record of securing external funding.
Record of mentorship, including guidance for junior faculty, graduate students, or community collaborators.
Preferred qualifications:
Documented experience and sustained commitment to collaborative engagement with border communities.
Demonstrated dedication to research initiatives that directly engage and benefit border communities.
Demonstrated leadership in supporting and advocating for underrepresented populations within higher education.

The Youth Dance Instructor is responsible for leading engaging, developmentally appropriate ballet and tap classes for children ages 3-5. This role emphasizes creativity, structure, safety, and fun while fostering a positive first dance experience for young learners.
The ideal candidate is energetic, patient, and passionate about working with young children, with experience teaching or assisting early childhood dance classes.
Responsibilities
Create a positive member experience through welcoming participants and ensuring they are actively engaged in their workout
Provide a safe workout routine by demonstrating proper form and technique, appropriate modifications, and cueing
Maintain a clean and safe workout area
Effectively utilize scheduled class time
Properly set up and breakdown class equipment in allotted timeframe
Build community through forming positive relationships through learning names, and helping members reach their Health & Wellness Goals
Adhere to the core functions of the YMCA and exemplify Y Group Exercise Class Guidelines
Ability to communicate verbally to large and small groups of members
Physical ability to lead and participate in exercise/fitness activities
Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency

Qualifications
Minimum of 16 years of age or older
If actively enrolled in high school, a valid school district Work Permit is required
18 years of age or older, licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications
Dance experience preferred
All job required trainings within 90 days from date of hire
Strong communication skills and the capability to work with members of all fitness levels and abilities
Knowledge of fitness principles and practical applications required
CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
American Red Cross
American Heart Association
American Safety & Health Institute
