The Department of Mathematics & Statistics is comprised of 19 faculty members. Faculty in the department are committed to high-quality teaching and support of student success. They have participated in a professional learning communities focused on teaching practices that have led to numerous changes in the classroom. OER resources and free, customizable, online homework platforms are being used in several courses. Most recently, faculty have incorporated collaborative learning and project-based learning in a variety of courses. Recent faculty publications have appeared in Cryptologia, Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education, Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology, Journal of Statistics and Data Science Education, and Mathematics Teacher. Faculty have presented their work at regional and national conferences with travel support from the department. Support for undergraduate research exists both departmentally, as well as through the Center for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics (CINSAM) and the College of Arts & Sciences.
