Job Summary
Georgia College & State University seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction to teach in an online Master of Education (MEd) program and possibly in the hybrid (online and on-campus courses) Doctor of Education (EdD) program. The candidate may also be asked to teach online courses in the Teacher Leadership Education Specialist (EdS) program.
The candidate may also teach graduate courses in related fields/areas of expertise and/or undergraduate GC1Y (typically freshmen)/GC2Y (typically sophomores) core courses. Job Details:The Columbus Roberts Department of Religion in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Religion with primary focus on Religion and Science. We welcome candidates in religious studies with expertise in one or more of the following areas: health and healing, natural sciences, social sciences, history of medicine, and history of science.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching 21 hours per academic year at the undergraduate level. Fifteen of those hours will be in religion courses that fulfill a General Education requirement, 3 hours will be in an upper-level religion class in one's discipline, and the remaining hours will be in one of our cross-college programs, including, but not limited to: Integrative Studies, Great Books, and Women's and Gender Studies. In addition, the candidate will participate fully in the collaborative work of the department, including advising students and developing new upper-level courses in the discipline. As with all faculty members, the successful candidate will be expected to continue a research agenda and provide service to the college, university, and academy. The expectation is 60% teaching, 20% scholarship, and 20% service.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. degree in Religion or related area is required. Exceptional ABD candidates will be considered so long as the Ph.D. is completed by August 1, 2026. A background in liberal arts education and membership in Phi Beta Kappa are considered added advantages.
