The Family Preservation Assistant is responsible for assuming responsibilities common to all administrative and direct service positions as described in the Agency Manual. These responsibilities include, but not limited to, the preparation of background reports on offenders convicted in Circuit Court which will be utilized to determine sentences; supervision of offenders placed on community supervision through Court ordered probation or parole from a state correctional facility. The employee will be required to supervise a caseload of offenders, which may include but is not limited to: sex offenders, offenders placed on a variety of electronic monitoring devices including Global Positioning System (GPS), gender specific, mentally ill, Interstate Compact, or other specialized caseloads as designated by the Deputy Director of Field Operations. The employee may be assigned to act as an embedded agent assigned to a local law enforcement agency, an Institutional Parole Agent, or an Internet Crimes Against Children Agent (ICAC). The employee will follow policy, procedures, Director Office Memorandums (DOM) and Guiding Principles of the Department of Corrections in order to meet the goals of the Department.
This is a position in which the incumbent has regular unsupervised access to and direct contact with probationers, or parolees, and is a DART (Drug/Alcohol Test Designated) position in accordance with Civil Service Rules. Some positions assigned as Institutional Parole Agents may have regular unsupervised access to and direct contact with prisoners more than 50% of the time. Considerable independent judgement is required to carry out assignments that have significant impact on services or programs.

The Charter Township of Shelby Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department is now accepting applications for Summer Recreation Day Camp - Director. The Summer Recreation Day Camp director will oversee most aspects of staffing, programming, and camper relations for our summer camp season. Applicants must be available for the entirety of the camp - June through August (10 weeks), 35-40 hours/week, Mondays - Fridays between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Applicant must have ability to work some weekends and evenings when required for staff trainings. The hourly wage for this position is $16.88 per hour, no benefits.
GENERAL FUNCTION: The Director is accountable for the overall management of the program and is specifically responsible for personnel management, program development and health and safety management in accordance with the State of Michigan Camp Licensing Guidelines.
JOB DUTIES:
* Develop and coordinate camp programs and activities for a safe, engaging, high quality summer program
* Provide organizational and programmatic support as necessary
* Assist in the development and implementation of training for all other summer recreation staff
* Maintain fiscal records for summer camp program purchases and work with budget provided by Parks and Recreation Department
* Oversee the follow-through of any correspondence necessary related to camp functions and activities. i.e. summer staff contracts, permits, etc.
* Oversee camp field trips
* Interact with Parents, Campers and Staff as needed
* Plan weekly staff meetings to share programming ideas
* Manage camper information and groupings
* Address behavioral management, discipline and troubleshooting issues related to Campers and/or Staff Maintain appropriate documentation when necessary
* Assist in the determination of equipment needs, including placing necessary orders, and maintain camp resources and supplies
* Support and supervise Staff in organizing, implementing, decision making and troubleshooting
* Lead and maintain a positive team atmosphere that includes Campers, Families, Camp and Office Staff, and Volunteers
* Assist in the evaluation of the camp itself, as well as the camping experience for youth participants
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum age of 21 years old
* Minimum of 1 year of full-time experience working with a population similar to that which the camp serves
* Prior camp experience, experience managing a staff of up to 10 individuals, flexibility, and fun team spirit
* Applicant must be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED training, which will be provided by the camp
* Experience providing fun programming for diverse populations
* Works well with minimal supervision, and asks for assistance when needed
* Manages conflict situations appropriately
* Excellent social, communication, and writing skills

* Ability to pass background checks/finger printing
