John Ettelson
William Blair

John R. Ettelson became president of William Blair in 2003 and has been CEO since 2004. Under his leadership, the investment banking and asset management business has grown to more than 20 offices globally and annual revenues have tripled to over $1 billion. During his three decades at William Blair, Mr. Ettelson has held various leadership positions within the firm, including; head of mergers and acquisitions, chief financial officer, and chief operating officer. Mr. Ettelson received his Sc.B. from Brown University and his JD/M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

John M. Roth became a Director in connection with our recapitalization in February 2005. Mr. Roth joined Freeman Spogli & Co., a private equity investment firm, in 1988, became a general partner in 1993 and has served as Chief Executive Officer since January 2016. From 1984 to 1988, Mr. Roth was employed by Kidder, Peabody & Co. Incorporated in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group. Mr. Roth serves as a director on the board of El Pollo Loco Holdings, Inc., a restaurant chain. Mr. Roth brings to our Board extensive experience as a board member of numerous retail and consumer businesses and has extensive experience and insights into strategic expansion opportunities, capital markets and capitalization strategies.

William Francis Dawson

William F. Dawson joined Wellspring as a partner in 2001. He previously spent one year at Whitney & Co., where he was head of the middle market buyout group. Prior to that, William spent 14 years at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corporation where he was most recently a managing director at DLJ Merchant Banking. William has been involved in numerous acquisitions and recapitalizations as well as leveraged financings and restructurings. He has served on the boards of a variety of public and private companies. Chip Kaye joined Warburg Pincus in 1986 and is the firm’s Chief Executive Officer. In this capacity, Mr. Kaye oversees the firm’s investment decisions and leads Warburg Pincus’ Executive Management Group. Mr. Kaye lived in Hong Kong from 1994 to 1999, where he was instrumental in the launch and development of Warburg Pincus’ Asia operations. Mr. Kaye is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin.
