By Dianne Doherty - Oct. 12, 2023

The best jobs for American expats include English as a second language (ESL) teachers, flight attendants, and traveling nurses. Leaving your home country and finding a career elsewhere is challenging but can be exciting and rewarding. 2. Flight Attendant

A flight attendant is known as a steward or stewardess, an air host or hostess, and works majority in airlines, some in private business jets, or a few other aircraft. Also commonly referred to as a cabin crew, flight attendants act as an ambassador between the airline they work with and the passengers by primarily taking charge of their safety and comfort during the entire flight. They do more than serving meals, refreshments, and drinks to passengers as they must also check the supplies and emergency equipment, secure sufficiency, and make sure everything is in order. They greet the travelers, help in their luggage being stowed properly, and ensure they are in their correct and assigned seats.

  3. Traveling Nurse

    Average Salary: $83,961

Often employed under a staffing agency, a travel nurse primarily works short-term on different limited-staffed hospitals in cities all over a country, and even abroad on rare occasions. They are mainly responsible for providing treatment and immediate care to patients, administering medicine, assisting in various tasks, preparing meals, and other functions that the supervising colleague delegates. There are also instances when a deckhand can prepare meals, serve clients, and even prepare cabins. Furthermore, a deckhand needs to coordinate with fellow seafarers at all times, as working in a ship can be very unpredictable.

  9. Travel Writer

    Average Salary: $57,196

The major role of a Travel Writer is to describe various tourist destinations for diverse publications using their personal experiences and knowledge.
