This question is about pre employment drug tests.
No, Flonase does not show up on a drug test. However, there is some evidence that shows that during the first month of taking Flonase there is a small increase in your chances of having a false positive on a drug test. Flonase is a nasal spray that contains a corticosteroid called fluticasone propionate and is used to treat allergies.
A phase IV clinical study conducted by the manufacturer of Flonase and reviewed by the FDA analyzed data from drug screens of urine samples from healthy adult volunteers who had used fluticasone propionate nasal spray at the recommended dose of 2 sprays in each nostril once daily for up to 6 weeks.
The study found that the use of fluticasone propionate nasal spray was associated with an increased risk of false positive results for certain drugs, including amphetamines and methamphetamines, on some types of drug tests. False positives occur most often when individuals were taking Flonase for less than one month and in those between the ages of 40 to 49 years old.
It's important to keep in mind that false positives are still a very rare occurrence (gt;.05%), and the likelihood of experiencing a false positive result can vary depending on individual factors such as dosage, frequency of use, and individual physiology. Additionally, false positive results can be caused by a variety of other factors such as certain foods, medications, or supplements.
