This question is about careers.
The first step in fighting a performance improvement plan (PIP) is to request time to go over the plan before you sign the PIP. Once signed, you agree to the plan and the associated terms and conditions. If you want to fight the PIP, do not sign it.
Once you have the PIP, you should comb through it and look at each section. From here, you can form a rebuttal to the claims provided. This needs to be concisely thought out and prepared.
Once you have finished creating a full rebuttal to the claims in your PIP, you can present this clearly and respectfully to your manager. From there, you may have the PIP cleared. It may not be.
There is no clear guarantee of what can occur, but presenting a solid, evidence-based rebuttal is your best chance at fighting a performance improvement plan.
