How hard is it to become a locksmith?

By Kate Swindlehurst - Apr. 2, 2023

It is not necessarily difficult to become a locksmith. To become a locksmith, you need to complete some sort of training. This can include a training program, on-the-job training, or completing an official apprenticeship.

A locksmith training course takes several months to complete. It can even take as little as eight weeks to complete. This training is typically full-time, and you have to pay to enroll, but this is the fastest way to become a locksmith.

Some positions include on-the-job training for locksmiths. This means you can work, earn money, and still learn how to become a locksmith. This can take years to complete, but it does pay. An apprenticeship is similar to on-the-job training, but it is an official apprenticeship and can prepare you thoroughly for a job as a locksmith.
