A 15-year-old can work up to 18 hours weekly in California when school is in session. When school is not in session, a 15-year-old in California can work up to eight hours per day and no more than 40 hours per week.
When school is in session in California, there are specific limitations for 15-year-olds:
15-year-olds can work 3 hours per day on school days but must be outside of school ours
15-year-olds can work 8 hours per day on non-school days, such as weekends and holidays
15-year-olds can work no more than 18 hours per week
