How to find information about a business
You find information about a business on its website and by checking with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The Better Business Bureau is a non-profit organization that seeks to help protect consumers by giving them information on different businesses and their practices. Here are the two ways to find info on a business:
Research the company's website. Business websites often include information like:
Company addresses and headquarters
Top-level staff
An "about" section detailing what the company is and what it does
A company's mission statement
A company's vision statement
A company's value statement (or core values)
Current projects it is working on
Check the BBB Report. The BBB can be used in consumer or career contexts to find more information on a specific business. Here are the four steps you can use to find out information on specific businesses via the BBB:
Make sure you have the accurate and correct name of the business and the way it is spelled. To be sure, you can check the business' website. While on their website to verify spelling and accuracy, you can also find some information on the business.
Keep in mind: the BBB might have the company listed under its parent organization if the business you want to find out about is a subsidiary.
Go to the BBB's website and choose the country where you live or the country in which the business resides. Even if you put in your local info and the business is elsewhere, the BBB still allows you access to their entire database when searching.
Search for the specific company. Enter the business's name into the search, and use its particular location info if you have those details. You can also narrow your search by industry.
Scroll through your search results until you find the business you want to learn more about. When you do, select the business name, and it will bring it to its profile page. From here, you can access all of the information the BBB has on the specific business.
