How to get into the Naval Academy
Pass all basic requirements, meet academic and physical standards, and have leadership skills to enter the Naval Academy. The basic requirements for entrance into the Naval Academy include being between the ages of 17 and 22, being an unmarried US citizen, and not being pregnant, with no legal obligation to support a child.
Along with these basic requirements, there are also academic and physical standards for admittance into the Naval Academy. You should strive to be in the top 20% of your graduating class and score at least 1250 on your SATs or a 27 on your ACTs. Physically, you must be able to pass the candidate fitness assessment.
Leadership is extremely important for admittance at the Naval Academy. 90% of accepted applicants play some sport, and many hold leadership positions on their teams. One requirement for the academy is to have a Math teacher and an English teacher writes you a letter of recommendation.
The Naval Academy is extremely competitive, so while these are the requirements to be admitted, it does not guarantee you admittance if you complete all of these.
