What are outbound logistics?

By Justin Parker - Apr. 25, 2023

Outbound logistics is the process and activities that go into delivering an organization's products, goods, or services to its customer base. Some of the common activities include:

  • Preparing goods or products

  • Packaging goods or products

  • Processing

  • Inventory management

  • Shipping

  • Delivery

  • Transporting goods or products from a company's facilities to their final destination

The final destination of goods or products in an outbound logistics scenario might be a retailer or distributor, both are business-to-business (B2B) or directly to an end customer, business-to-consumer (B2C). When outbound logistics are executed efficiently and effectively products or goods arrive at their destination on time, in good quality, and at a reasonable cost.
