What do entry-level actuaries do?

Entry-level actuaries undergo training as actuary assistants, complete reports to submit to supervising actuaries, and analyze data. Aspiring actuaries need to complete at least a bachelor's degree before they can begin working. Companies expect entry-level actuaries to have a degree and background knowledge.

Entry-level actuaries are technically considered to still be in training. Actuaries receive on-the-job training to understand how best to analyze data and create specific equations and algorithms based on that analysis.

While this is something that actuaries do throughout their careers, actuary assistants do this under the direction of supervising actuaries. They also need to take extensive notes to create reports that are then submitted to the supervisors. Supervisors can give support, guidance, and constructive criticism on the work submitted by the trainee.
